Senior Schedule Help (new here)

I am thinking of applying to Northwestern, Rice, Dartmouth, and a few safeties.

Here's my schedule so far:

AP French
AP Calc AB
APES
AP Lit
AP Eco/AP Gov't
AP Physics B
Anesthesiology Internship/Independent Study

I am considering majoring in the biological sciences or physical sciences. I don't know if I should change Calc AB to BC bc I'm not a good math student and don't know if it will add more work to schedule. I also sort of want to trade APES for AP Stats or maybe French for Stats. Please help. Thanks.

Please help? anyone?

I would not trade french for Stats, but APES for Stats sounds good as long as you are interested in math and using your calculator. I’m pretty sure that Calc AB/BC are not that much different in difficulty, so if I were you I’d take BC because it looks better for college. Just my two cents…

If you’re planning to major in biological or physical sciences and are applying to those schools, you should definitely take calc BC.

Also, I wouldn’t give up another class to take AP stats. You can always self-study it.

Is calc BC that much harder than AB because I am a REALLY bad math student. Ironically, I’m good at math for Physics and other science-based math. I got a B first semester of Pre-Calc and barely an A the second semester. Should I still take BC?

Yes. Calculus BC is not harder, but it’s more.

For AB, you have limits, derivatives, basic differential equations, related rates, integration, slope fields, and solids of revolution. For BC, you have all that plus series and a few other minor topics.

I really don’t see any reason for you to not take BC.

I would keep your schedule the way it is. It is pretty well rounded right now, but if you were to change anything, I would go to BC Calc. Keep french, because keeping a language will have you look more well rounded than 2 maths. I would also keep APES, because it will be a complete opposite of physics and broaden your curriculum. I don’t think you should take stat, because I find it extremely boring and you say that you’re not a good math student.
