Does it look bad in the admissions process that I’m only going to be taking 3 APs in my junior schedule and a whopping 6 in my senior? (Granted that two of them are only one semester.) The only way that I could have beefed up my junior schedule was Spanish 3 Honors which I did not feel comfortable taking, or APUSH, which I also did not feel comfortable taking.
It’s fine. Your junior schedule isbquite rigorous and your senior schedule is likely to be a bit too much - perhaps take Spanish 4H to make things a bit easier on yourself? If your school offers English Honors, I’d take that rather than 'regular’English since you took AP Lit junior year, unless there are 'regular’senior seminars you’re really interested in.
In the 12-15 minutes that an AO reads an application s/her is not going to microanalyze your schedule year by year. The schedule is fine. I agree with @MYOS1634
It won’t be an issue to take a more rigorous schedule senior year than junior year, but it will be an issue if you can’t handle said senior schedule. 6 APs is a lot. You really don’t need 3 social studies APs in one year, so I’d cut one or two of those.
My main reason for taking AP Spanish was because it would prepare me for the Spanish 4 AP test, which grants a pass on the language gen Ed classes in some of the colleges that I am applying to.
You are a sophomore, right? You don’t have to finalize your senior year schedule now. But to answer your question, I wouldn’t add APES. Either the photography class or a study hall would be fine. Why don’t you wait to see how junior year goes?
Making a 4 year plan is great, but there is no expectation from the counselor, or anyone else, that your schedule beyond next year is set in stone. Classes get added, classes get dropped, schedule conflicts arise, etc. Just make sure the plan is in pencil.
