Is Birnkrant pretty much guaranteed if you’re a merit scholar and select it as your 1st choice?</p>

<p>There is room for around 250 (which is about half of the total number of T/P scholars per year if I remember the numbers correctly)-- so it really depends on how many scholars decide on this option.</p>

<p>I know 2 Presidential Scholars that were not even aware of Birnkrant,so they signed up for other dorms. So there is hope if lot of people are like that.</p>

<p>In my FA package, when I hover the mouse over housing costs, a bubble pops up with “average rent for Birnkrant Residential Hall.” Does this mean anything? :o</p>

<p>No, because financial aid is not dependent upon which housing option you choose - your FA is calculated using an average rent and the standard meal plan. It seems the Birnkrant rate is the one they are using as the average. If you choose higher-cost housing and a higher-cost meal plan, your FA will NOT be adjusted - the additional charges will come out of your pocket. If you choose a lower-cost arrangement, your FA will NOT be adjusted and you will benefit from the savings.</p>

<p>So the notation about the average rent is very likely consistent for all students with a financial aid estimate.</p>

<p>Not yet, though the housing site now has a message about applications not being accessible due to the assignment process. So something is brewing ;).</p>
