I want to major in computer science and in order to get admitted to Virginia Tech you must have an AP science. I also haven't taken physics yet. What would you suggest for me? Should I take AP physics or regular physics and AP chem? How difficult are these two? Thanks.

Anyone?

I don’t know your school’s curriculum, but most schools require physics before AP Physics C. If your school is offering AP Physics 1, that could be an option for you. AP Chemistry is one of the hardest AP classes, but it is manageable IMHO.

Whoaaaa, I wanna go to Virginia Tech for computer science too! AP Chem is the hardest class offered at my school and a lot of people are afraid to take it. I’m taking physics right now and I’m planning to take AP Physics C next year. Can you take physics over the summer or something so that you can take AP next year?

@AnImpAffliction I’m already taking pre-calc over the summer:( . How hard is physics? And cool hopefully we both get in

So should I just take regular physics then? @skieurope

Have any of you guys taken AP Computer Science yet?

No but I am currently taking a network engineering class @awakeningvenus

@smileyrae, aww. :C Physics I isn’t too bad, I have an A in the class. But I hear AP is kinda hard. Wait, so will you be taking Calculus next year? I’ve talked to some seniors who take Calc AB and AP Physics at the same time and they said it was hard. They told me I would be at an advantage because I’m taking Calc AB this year and AP Physics next year. But if those seniors could manage AP Physics with little calculus experience, I’m sure you can too. Just thought I should let you know.

Physics and AP Chem together is totally fine IMHO.

@awakeningvenus I have. Very easy, but very useful and practical. CS major here, came in with lots of self-teaching. Took all the projects I did above and beyond, have a great handle on Java now. Our class is only 4 people, and everyone was already experienced in coding so we finished the material before February and have been doing complex projects + practice tests ever since. Love the class.

Thanks! @awakeningvenus

@smileyrae
You’re welcome! I’m planning to take it next year and I thought it would be an especially good idea for you if you hadn’t taken it yet.
