Senior year course help

  • background info - I go to a small suburban high school in northeast Ohio that offers a whopping selection of three AP classes, all of which I have taken. I am second in my class of 300, wanting to become first, but won't be upset if it doesn't happen. I am obviously applying to college this fall (Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami U, and Cinci) and want to look as competitive as I can when it comes to my course selections.

Because my school offers little to no APs, I am opting to do college credit plus and go to the University of Akron this fall on the morning taking Microeconomics, English Comp I, Basic Statistics (plus a lab on Mondays), and Beginner Spanish. In the afternoon, I will come back to my high school and take AP Calc AB.

I will have a total of 3 classes a day (4 on Mondays with Stats lab) and have Fridays off (besides the 40 min calc class at my HS.) I am also on the varsity soccer team, 2 hour practices every day after school when we do not have a game.

Is 4 college classes plus an AP class too much for a high school senior? Will I be able to manage this without absolutely killing my GPA? Or will it be decently manageable?

Thank you so much. I am beginning to be worried I put too much on my shoulders for this year after hearing what the #1 student is taking this year (much less).

My schedule will look like this:

Mondays: English comp 8:45-10:00, Microeconomics 10:15-11:30, Stats lab 11:45-12:35, AP Calc 1:02-1:44

Tuesdays: Beginning Spanish 8:45-10:00, Basic stats 10:15-11:30, AP calc 1:02-1:44

Wednesdays: English comp 8:45-10:00, Microeconomics 10:15-11:30, AP Calc 1:02-1:44

Thursdays: Beginning Spanish 8:45-10:00, Basic stats 10:15-11:30, AP calc 1:02-1:44

Fridays: AP Calc 1:02-1:44

Thanks again!

Can you get from the Stats lab at the university to your class AP CAL class at your high school in 27 minutes?

Yes I can! It’s only a 10 minute drive and if I am unable to my high school/teacher is very flexible when it comes to college/high school class time.

It’s a very good schedule.
Just make sure you schedule a science class and Beginning Spanish 2 for the spring, and report those on your SRAR.

Have you run the Net price calculator on each of the colleges you listed?
Perhaps add Denison (roughly as selective as tOSU) and Kenyon (another reach), two stellar Ohio colleges with deep pockets (ie., Generous financial aid). Run the NPC on them too and fill out the Request info form.
