Senior Year grade and Admissions

First I was wondering if colleges want you to send in your first quarter grades or your first semester grades. Second are quarter grades that important, and do they look at each individual class or your total gpa. I'm asking this because I'm a full IB student and I have 94 and above in every class this quarter, but got a 77 for IB Bio HL. Will this hurt my chances, since this is my first C ever in high School, or if i do better next quarter and get that up will.

It differs from college to college. Call your colleges’ admissions offices and see !

aite, anyone else???

Mainly two types of colleges: (a) those that make admission decisions based on grades through junior year (most public universities) which want no senior year grades for determining admission; (b) those that require you to submit a mid-year report after you have applied on grades from first semester and use those for regular admission (many privates including most high ranked privates). There is only a small number that require mid-first semester grades and that small number only does so if you apply early action or early decision. Also note that all colleges reserve the right to rescind your admission if your final transcript sent in June shows you blew off senior year. In determining admission most colleges use GPA and look at difficulty level of courses taken and grades in them.

So that one C+ wont really hurt my admissions to colleges like Stony Brook, Northeaster, Boston University, or Syracuse?

i know one university that i’m applying to is asking for quarter grades. same situation straight a’s but b - in ap english  but quarter grades don’t get listed on our transcripts so i will just be sending a mid year report. to be safe, the best bet is to ask the admissions office. they said that they only need the quarter grades “when available” otherwise i can send in a mid year report

Ok, say im applying regular decision and plan to have all my applications in by mid-December, if the first semester ends early to mid january, do i have to send my first quarter, or can i wait to send in my first sememster?

btw these are my other first quarter grades if it makes a difference

IB Biology 12 HL - 77
IB Theory of Knowledge II - 95
Phys Ed - 95
IB Psychology SL - 96
IB Italian 12 SL - 96
IB History 12 HL - 92
IB English 12 HL - 96

damn that one 77…

should i still send my first quarter grades even with this 77…

None of the colleges you listed will request quarter grades. Unless your high school puts quarter grades on your transcript ( I do not know of any that do but it is apossibility you should check on), the transcript you’ll submit when applying will not show them. You don’t send a mid-year report until after you have applied and after you get first semester grades.

Really!?? How’d you find out??
