I've had a 4.0 Freshman - Junior year (taking the hardest courseload possible) and now that I'm a senior, I think I may get a B in one or two AP classes. This isn't because I've been slacking off, or because of senioritis - it's just that the classes are very hard! Will this hurt me in admissions? I'm applying to very selevtice schools (ie HYPS) and am really, really worried that after a 4.0, getting one or two Bs my senior year will look bad.

Anyone with any experience with this?

I don't have experience with this, but I don't think 1-2 Bs will look bad your senior year. I mean, 1-2 Bs won't really look that bad at any time. But colleges understand that you're probably swamped with college apps and the like, in addition to your heavy courseload. You'll be fine.

I would agree with ^.

I don't know for sure --no one here could-- but I think one or two B's in hard classes would be fine. It's the whole package that makes your case. Yeah, maybe if the rest of what you have to offer is deficient, those Bs might make a little dent, but if grades and stats are all you have to offer you might not make the cut at a real selective place anyway.

No worries, one B will not make or break your case in admissions. There are tons of people without perfect GPAs who are admitted to top schools each year. Just make sure your personable elements stand out :)

I got a B and a B+ on my first quarter senior report card... After having a 4.6 weighted last year.

And I still applied EA to Yale. Stupid? Maybe. End of the world? Hope not.

And I have a note on my transcript for the B cause I passed out during a test and my teacher didn't care.
