Senior year grades

If you apply as a transfer student do colleges see/consider your first and particularly second term senior year grades?

I'm sure they see them if they request a high school transcript and I don't know why they wouldn't consider them unless they don't consider high school records.

UT - Austin requires a high school transcript, but they do not consider it in their decision.

The longer you've been in college, the less impact the HS transcript will have.

In most cases (especially if you have 40 + hrs) high school transcripts are used merely for placement purposes. They want to see that you took four yrs of English, two years of foreign lang., etc..

Let me elaborate a little. I m a high school senior and i plan to reapply to various engineering programs at cornell, columbia, umich , and other colleges next year. Will my grades this semester have any influence on these applications or can I participate in the slacking off like the other seniors? I have heard different things about this question so a definite answer would be helpful.

i think u cant slack off this term if ur reapplying next year because they will see ur whole transcript

the reason the other kids can slack off is that they have already been accepted to where they are going to go so all they have to do is pass this term but u havent yet and so when u apply next year colleges will see this terms grades for u and whether or not ur a slacker

sadly u cant slack off this term buddy

wait what i said is true if ur taking a year off
if ur just going to another college and then applying elsewhere in freshman year then i think u can still slack off this term and work hard freshman year and ur fine

if you're trying to get into an ivy or any highly selective school..slacking off any term is a big gamble..you still have to prove yourself, and you will be in competition with several other kids for your spot. if you only spend one semester, or even one year at the college you're transferring out of, then you really can't slack off at all honestly. If you're applying for the spring of 06, then you're going to have to send in your application sometime this fall, which means you won't have any college grades at all to display your performance, so you will need to rely on HS transcripts. If you're applying for Fall 06, you will only have one semester to show, as most deadlines for the top schools are in March...

Seconded.

By the way, to ivybound, if one is already accepted in an Ivy as a freshman, and he/she "slacks off" during the second semester of his/her senior year, then the school reserves the right to reject the applicant for such performance.

:) Well maybe I do know what I'm talking about sometimes afterall..AMAZING! :) hehe

Check with the college that you want to transfer to. There are certain number of credits that you want to get before you transfer so that they want look at your high school grades. I think 30 credits is average for most schools. meaning that if you have 30 credits of college, then the school that you want to transfer to wont consider your high school transcript in admission procedure, although they will ask for it. You should check with the college you want to transfer to. As mentioned by the other member, if you want to transfer to an Ivy school, you cant slack off ANY semester. Alright, good luck. Enjoy
