Is there a chance that Maryland reject kids (that have gotten in now) when it comes to the end of their senior year????

Lets say i finish this year with a 3.14 gpa unweighted. AND i know i barely got in for the fall of 2010. Is there a chance that i will loose my spot to a spring student????

I don’t think so. Schools don’t take back acceptances unless you do REALLY poorly (like all Cs or something) and as long as you have a least one A or so (which with a 3.14 you should) I’d say you’re fine.

If you flunked out or something, that’s one thing.

But above a 3.0 is hardly flunking out.

(I say this as someone who received a 3.0 senior year - my one “A” was in band, and I got a “C”, too! - and whose acceptances and scholarships were not rescinded at ANY college, even ones much more “prestigious” than UMD).

Now, I will warn you that if you did poorly your senior year, you really need to step it up if you expect As and Bs in college. It’s not so much that the work is harder - it certainly wasn’t, at least for me - but you are expected to show a lot more respect for your classes and teachers. That is, show up everyday, show up on time, turn your work in on time.

If there’s anything that’s different about UMD from HS, it is that profs expect a different level of emotional maturity and commitment to your education than a HS GPA of 3.1 shows.

So don’t go in there expecting everything to be fine and dandy-think about what went wrong (and it usually isn’t just, oh, I was sick of HS…) and try to prevent it from happening again.

They usually don’t ask for end-of-year grades, from what I’ve seen. They do ask for them from some kids, so keep your grades up, but you should be fine.

Yeah, just as everyone said, even if your school sends final transcripts automatically for you (as mine does) you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure to graduate ahaha.
