So in my school we are about to finalize our course requests for next year, and i have a few dilemmas. My schedule for next year is going to consist of (probably) BC Calc, AP Lit, AP Chem, AP physics C Mech (maybe self study E&M with a friend), and a required gym class. This leaves me with 2 more courses (Chem is all year every day, we have block scheduling, so 4 classes a semester)

1) Either Stats or Psych for one of my classes. I feel like i might enjoy Stats more, because i like math, but some people have said it was a joke and mostly writing. On the other hand Psych seems interesting, but it would only be for my interest and i heard it was a lot of work.

2) My other class will most likely be AP Comp Sci. I know i will use this in college and im interested it in, so i really want to take it, but i do have one reservation. Next year, if they don't have enough kids in my school district who want to take the program they may cut AP class altogether. however i talked to the comp sci teacher and she said that if i took independent study i would be able to take the class "technically". This is where the problem lies, Independent study only is a 4.5 gpa (assuming an A+), while if it were a real "class" it would be out of 6.0. My unweighted gpa would be the same, but my class rank may be impacted. I'm 4 of 435ish now, and i don't think valedictorian is a realistic posibility (the people ahead of me are "try-hards", and have been since freshman year, lol).

3) take out comp sci and have psych and stats

Any suggestions anyone?

I'm interested in an engineering physics major (or something like it) and maybe comp sci, and my top school i want to go to is Cornell right now.
