I know that schedules are a rather subjective thing because every school offers different levels... I'm looking to apply to Vassar College ED, but also would like to be competitive in case that doesn't work out. We got our course selection sheets for senior year, and I'm trying to format a good schedule. If anyone could shed any light into whether this schedule seems demanding enough, that would be appreciated.

AP Language & Comp
Topics in Global Studies - regular level (only level available)
Intro to Psychology - regular level (only level available)
AP European History
French Phase IV - regular level (only level available)
Music for the Gifted & Talented (honors)
Select Vocal Ensemble (unleveled)
Precalculus/Differential Calculus - regular level

Also, I am not taking a fourth year of science this year. I am really uninterested in science, and I decided to focus my classes more around social studies. I understand that it is generally recommended to take 4 years in all the main subjects, however, I would much rather take Psychology (the most scientific social studies courses offered at my school), than Honors Physics II. I understand this may affect my chances in admission, but I don't want to take a class I'm uninterested in simply in hope of getting accepted to one of my top choice schools. Especially since if I get rejected from my first choice school, then I'll be stuck taking that class Physics class for an entire year.

I mean, that looks like a pretty good schedule to me. I'm not even taking a full schedule (I know how horrible that is...).

All year, I'm taking:
AP Statistics
AP Biology
Physics
Japanese I
Freshman Composition (community college)
Introduction to Psychology (community college)

Considering I hate math and science (I am only taking those courses to have 5+ credits in those areas), that's a tough enough year for me.

Honors Pre-Calc
Soc. II and Psych OR AP European History (not sure, I might switch that)
AP English Language and Comp.
AP Chem II
Honors Physics
Honors Spanish IV

Looks good to me. Colleges just don't want to see major grade drops senior year. Take what you want. =3 Senior year is not supposed kill you like Junior year. I'm not taking Calc or Physics next year, even though they're both available. I hate math and math science...what else is there to say? I'm looking at:

AP English Language 12
Environmental Science
Mass Media
Chinese III
Dual Enrollment Government

And either Study Hall or another elective, possibly French I (if I can get the school to approve it) or World Mythology.

Thank you all very much, this was actually very informative and reassuring. I don't like math or science either, so I decided to take Psych. instead. Maybe I'll take another course at the local community college again.

What are you majoring in? It really is important to take another science, specifically a lab science, but if not, maybe add one more honors/ap class? I really think that'll increase your chances at Vassar. And also, math and science are going to be required (a lot) in college anyways, so why not get them over in high school and get credit for it? You'll be taking the classes most likely no matter what.

I want to major in the Humanities... maybe history or French or even Anthropology. I'm all distraught over this choice. If I don't take science, I will take an honors music class instead. I'm just really uninterested in taking another year of Physics when I've had 3 years of lab science (Biology, Chemistry, an Physics I)
