Senior Yr

Hello,

I am going to be a senior this year. I am taking 5 AP classes, and I will have to take one more Subject test. Also, I plan on applying to about 8-10 colleges, which include: Columbia, NYU, UPenn, Tufts, Barnard, Villanova, Drexel, Rutgers, & Swarthmore...
I am involved in many activites incl. a church group, honor societies, will be part of an in-school research team, martial arts, etc.

My question is: How did you manage senior year? Is it harder than junior year? And can you give any advice, esp. about time management?

Thanks in Advance!

…???

Anyone?? I know it varies person to person…but can you share your experience???

Advice would be appreciated…

Lol I’m in the same boat as you, but I would have to imagine that senior year is a little more stressful than junior year simply because of the extra work of college apps.

My only advice that I’ve heard would be to do your apps quickly and efficiently.

Yea, feels good to know others are sort of in the same boat…i know after college apps i’ll be bombarded w/ my 5 APs…eeks…sort of nervous…i wish people would share their experience…i don’t know if there is a similar thread already…??

It shouldn’t be too hard; I took 5 APs as a junior (plus an “honors” that was practically the AP varient) and did a ton of ECs.

What I’m going to do senior year:

1.) Save money for prom, senior week, other expenses
2.) Be more open to my parents about colleges (yeah right) so they know exactly what’s going to happen with apps.
3.) retake the SAT
4.) work on critical ECs that need to be built

I got an ipod touch with the money I worked with my summer job as a coach so I’m spending less time on Facebook and on the computer in general so I can knock out school work instead of procrastinating. The iTouch is a great organizer in my opinion and it’s going to save me a TON of time organizing things that need to be done with its useful apps.

I managed it just like every other year, but spending all my free time trying to figure out essays. Do your work, hang with friends, do your ECs, and try to get some sleep during the weekends to make up for nights where you don’t get much.

Harder than junior year? Definitely. But it’s still manageable.

Advice…stay calm, try to work on college essays early, time starts running out as you get closer to winter. Make sure you know scholarship deadlines. Just think of it as any other year, but replace lazy days with agonizing over essays. But it’s not so bad, really.

Thank You so Much!!

Well I’m a senior too. Its all about attitude I think. I’m balancing a lot right now, and I’m not kidding, even for a CC kid, I’m doing a lot of stuff. Its manageable too, and find time to spend time with your friends and don’t focus too much on school. Learn the material, get the A’s, and complete something worthwhile.

I’ve moved your post from the College Admissions board to High School Life, which is the appropriate board for it. Please don’t bump more than once a day.
