How bad do your grades really have to drop in your senior year in order for a school to reject an acceptance?

If you get like all Cs and Bs that's probably enough to merit a rescission of your acceptance. For the uber-competitive, all Bs is probably enough (conversely, for less competitive schools, all Cs is probably okay).

And BTW, it's "senioritis" lol :p

Then I guess every school will rescind my offer of admission. Whoops.

I don't think any college will rescind an acceptance with B's....I'd say multiple D's are when they start to investigate.

what about like...

A 3.0 with 2 A's, 2 B's, and 2 C's (2 ap/honors as well)

would it still be ok?

Yeah... some schools give GPA cut-offs, instead. For my borther's college, it's a 3.3 weighted.

What school are you worried about, ichi?

only a few more months. might as well just work for 3 more months and not have to worry about it

Yeah, but for me it's not like im trying to get the worst possible grades. It's just that im not as motivated as i was last year (esp studying for tests).

yeah... i have like no motivation to do any work...

Shouldn't the threat of being rescinded be enough motivation?

^ Yes, that motivates me not to get any Cs, Ds, or Fs. But this year i dont have the motivation to get straight As like i used to have.

I have this feeling like I've run this insanely long marathon and I am about ready to collapse. The vast majority of my peers and friends also feel the same way. I get this awkward feeling of just being completely burned out from high school. I am seriously considering taking a year off next year to refresh myself so I can be mentally prepared for college.

If i took a year off i think itd make me a lot lazier than i already am. I think this summer will refresh me enough for whichever college im going to end up at.

i hate to break it to you highschoolers, but that marathon will continue and get much more demanding on your body once you're in colege.... you're only at the half way point.

I understand that much of my future life is hard work. However, I feel that I shouldn't feel so totally burned out at this stage in my life. That is why I am proposing a simple solution- take a year off and reenergize for the next amazing four years of my life. Indeed, the Dean of Admissions for Harvard agrees and says that students should take a year off. Studies have shown that students who take a year off come back better focused and determined for college.

hahaha, try telling my parents that lol

We only have like a month left of school... Spring break is in a week and when we return we have a month, then AP tests, then we're done! All of May is half and partial days for seniors with the senior trip and practices so we don't really go to school.

you know i 've often wondered about this very thing - how bad do your grades have to be compared to what they were that the colleges accepted you on the basis of for them to rescind an offer of admission. But I'm talking Ivy Leagues. That's my concern. I'm aiming for Yale and if they accept me all they'll have seen is my 4.0. unfortunately this semester I'm almost guaranteed to get at least one B. Now I wouldnt even sweat that if I didnt believe that my pristine academic record in spite of a bad background is likely my key quality, that my appeal to them would be "hey this girl had a friggin hard life and she excelled academically in spite of it" since my home life didnt lend itself to extracuriccular brilliance. So yeah. Anyone have any ideas?
