Ah…I feel so care-free this semester, anyone else? All the mid-year reports are finished, grades don’t really matter, so I say, “Why the h e l l try?”

Not mine! Mine aren't finished until almost the end of January. But even when they're done, I'll still try to maintain standards I've set for myself... just not nearly as hard as I am now.

on the same page as goldshadow... my semester doesn't end until january 31st -- and even after that... my own standards would refuse to allow me to do absolutely nothing... especially being in we the people, best class on earth :-)

My semester doesn't end until this Friday

hey i do we the people too! thats do funny. just got past the city competition on saturday and my team is moving on to the states now.

"Why the H E L L try?"

Isis! I'll totally see you at states then, please tell me you are at Murrow? Because that would be totally cool if we saw each other :-) I'm NY too, Half Hollow Hills (ask your teacher if she knows my school/teacher, he said he knew your teacher if you go to Murrow.)

Spirited away asks "Why the hell try?" Let me give you some good reasons and a suggestion:

If you completely mess up your second semester, your admission could be rescinded.

Under no circumstances should you fail a required course for graduation. Someone actually failed Gym because she didn't attend class. She had to take gym the next year and couldn't attend the college that accepted her.

Take either AP courses or, even better, community college courses , if available. Passing these courses could reduce your general education courses for your major, which will enable you to take more courses in college that you really want to take. This is a really important suggestion in order to avoid seniorites. It will give you a good reason to work hard.

I disagree.

Senior year of high school is the best year of your life, it just gets worse.

Party! (but keep at least a b average)

well, mid year is over in a couple more weeks for me so I still have to work my @$$ off for another couple of weeks, especially with mid-term exams coming up NEXT WEEK... and to just quickly answer the question "Why the h e l l try?" well, at graduation I would very much like to wear the lovely blue sash awarded to seniors who have obtained and 85 avg. or higher all year long for the National Honor Society. :-D

some medical/dental schools ask for a high school transcript before interviews.

For me, I think that after Midterms (in 2 wks) im gonna take a well deserved break. I mean I worked so hard up until now, so i think I deserve it'; we all do. Though I doubt my average will dorp below a B because I have trouble letting go of school work, cept Spanish. I hate Spanish class.

grrr, yeah midterms start this friday for me...eek!!!

Senioritis sucks for me this year. I can't seem to get it right. I somehow managed to work hard my first trimester, but since then it has all been downhill. It ends up that my senioritis actually causes me to do more homework. I have been having difficulty paying attention in my classes (especially boring lectures), so when the tests come along, I have to cram a ton so that I don't fail. I have always had this problem, but not nearly as bad as it is now. I just can't get interested in my classes.

nope i dont go to murrow.. i go to townsend harris.. but my teacher told us about your team.. said you guys go to nationals like every year. ahh well i guess you will be kicking my teams butt then!

1st semester ain't over until janurary... then i still gota try for another month or so until my GC mails out em midyear reports...

meanwhile, i'll be enjoying my EC's. wow its gonna be busy as !@$@!. but i'll definately enjoy it.

haha aww Isis.... we're really into it, and we've gone to nationals for the past --- 4 years or so? I dunno, but we try to continue the tradition. Besides the "winning" motivation, i think the subject-matter is amazing. I've learned more in the last semester than i've learned in the last 18 years of my life.

I had that problem too, in November. Maybe your suffering from academic burn out. Try studying somewhere else, like a library to help u focus. Also, go have some fun; that might help u stay focused in class. Everyone needs a break sometime. After 4 years im finally starting to take mine.
