Seniors and the December SAT?

So I sent my really crappy October scores a few days ago and I'm thinking about taking the December SAT for a better chance. I'm concerned though that some colleges will get my October scores and judge me based on them before I get to submit the Dec scores.

If I take the Dec SAT will they re-look my application again? Also, some kid said if I take the Dec test schools will automatically wait list me, is this true?

ALSO: Will the Dec SAT get my scores to colleges on time?
The earliest due date I've got is Jan 5 and Irvine for whatever reason wants theirs by Dec 31.

If you are applying RD, your schools will get your app and throw it in a pile. They will not get around to reading it and making judgments until February and March. Your December SAT scores will be there by then. No worries. Best of luck.

But by them throwing them ‘throwing it in a pile’ wouldn’t that make my chances of admittance lower? Wouldn’t I be better off sticking to my lower score? ._.

No, they shouldn’t begin analyzing any reg. decision apps until the deadline has passed, and your Dec. scores will be sent by then. There is no need to send the lower scores unless you know that an older score will have one of the highest M/CR/W scores and that the colleges you are applying to superscores.

Assuming you are applying RD, it depends on college. If you are applying to a college that has rolling admissions (sends out decisions as applications are received) you may get a decision even before you submit the Dec test. For example, Michigan follows a form or rolling admissions and starts rolling out decisons in December. Also, there are some colleges that actually have early RD deadlines (in Nov or Dec 1) who may start making decisons even before you take the Decmeber test.

If instead you are talking about the large number of colleges with late dec/early Jan or after RD deadlines and don’t send out RD decisons untill a time between Feb and April, then your file will not actually be reviewed to determine admission until after the Dec test arrives, which would be late Dec or early Jan as long as you send out immediately upon release. Before then the file is not actually thrown in a pile, including because they now do everything electronically, but the review that occurs is by administrative personnel who do not actually make admissions decisons but are checking simply to determine whether the file has everything required to be provided.
