I accidentally sent 5 subject test scores to Princeton, UPenn, and Cornell.
-Chemistry
-Physics
-Math I
-Math II (1st time)
-Math II (2nd time)
I only wanted my chemistry to be included in my application. My Math ones were low, and same with my Physics (which is the major I’m applying to). I don’t really have an excuse for the math other than not studying, but the physics was mostly Physics 2 stuff, and I only took mechanics. Should I email the schools and tell them I only want chemistry considered? What do I do? I’m freaking out!
I am wondering what the answer is, too.
You can’t prevent them from seeing all the scores.
The decision is whether to send a note to your AO, asking that they just consider the chem score in their holistic evaluation of your app.
If you choose to do this, keep the email short. Don’t apologize, don’t say how stressed you are. Say you made a mistake and just want the chem score included in the app evaluation.
I lean towards sending a quick email like that, otherwise they are certain to include all scores as part of the evaluation. And while they can’t un-see all the scores you sent, they can/will use the score(s) that make your app the strongest…and a note stating your intent could be helpful.
Good luck.
Probably they will just consider your chemistry score. Did you send any APs?
@CCSU2024 Please don’t tell people to apply to schools when they haven’t asked for it. It’s rude and annoying. Your one other reply on this site is also wrong and harmful.
@Mwfan1921 I like the idea of a short email. What do you mean by letter of intent?
@humanbeing120 Once I noticed the issue, I sent Cornell and Penn all my AP scores, which I definitely think give a better picture of me. I only reported Chem on the commonapp, so do you think they’ll just consider that and think I’m being honest?
I said this…“And while they can’t un-see all the scores you sent, they can/will use the score(s) that make your app the strongest…and a note stating your intent could be helpful”.
What I mean is that a note stating your intent (please consider chem only) could be helpful. I also don’t think there is downside risk to sending a simple, short email.
Good luck.
@Mwfan1921 Ohhh I understand! For some reason, when you said intent, I thought you meant like interest in the school. Thank you!
