Sent My Application, Now What?

Hello, I'm a Senior in Texas. I just sent my application a few days ago, and will be sending teacher recommendations/transcripts tomorrow. I'm not in the top 8%, so when will I get to know if I have been accepted/rejected? I applied relatively early.

Here's my profile: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/1002864-non-top-8-ut-austin-chance.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/1002864-non-top-8-ut-austin-chance.html</a></p>

I wasn’t in the top 10% last year and got my acceptance the end of February.

My D found out that she was accepted on February 26th. She was not in the top10%. You will probably have a long wait…

Alright, thanks.

Apply to other schools just for safe keeps but don’t worry. It’s great you applied early – make sure you do your housing early too. :S

Do the housing even before I’ve been accepted? How do I go about that?

You pay the 50 dollars (I believe its that much) online and wait patiently for them to send you a contract that you have to get back to them asap with the deposit.

Because – hopefully – you would get accepted – in which case you need to do housing now if you plan to live on a campus and you want first dibs on whatever dorm you want. Don’t wait till February for that – if you do you’re going to get the short end of the stick and not your ideal dorm. I believe that or the $300 deposit is refundable either way.

So keep tabs on Be A Longhorn - it should have all you need for now.

Pay your 50.00 now…however, you will not get a contract until you are accepted in the Spring. The earlier youpay the 50.00, the better chance you will have at getting a decent dorm. Housing goes by the date you paid the 50.00, not the date of your contract.

Thanks for the info, do you think if i pay now, it’ll increase my chances of getting in? I really want to attend ut Austin if I don’t get into cornell

I don’t believe it will help with your chances of getting accepted, but it will definitely help when you get accepted and you want to get a specific dorm. I kicked myself for not sending in the $50 when I applied because I didn’t think I would get in. I sent it a few months later and still got my dorm choice, but some people don’t get so lucky.
