Thank you very much obinnadaone. Good luck for Goldman Sachs.

Thanks a lot obinnadaone, I hope you make face-to-face.

Did the phone interview a minute ago, they asked the same questions that obinnadaone stated. The guy sounded as if he was mad at me or something what the hell!! Anyway I answered all his questions sufficiently I think. When do we normally hear back about the decision for the face-to-face?

What division are you applying for UTlife? Hope you get a face-to-face soon.

Thanks Wallstreet101. I applied for Corporate Finance, but I don't think a lot of people are gonna get face-to-face this time around.

You are welcome UTlife. Let's hope all the deserving ones do. Anyway, weren't you asked specific questions pertaining to I-Banking or accounting at least? That would be helpful to know. Any brainteasers on the phone?

No accounting questions or brain teasers at all were ask. Apart from what obinnadaone listed, the guy ask about current events on Wall Street that was it.

Thanks again, UTlife. I hope our conversation does not go in vain for me. I hope I get a phone interview at least. I will be checking my email every half an hour tomorrow. Are you guys sure that if you don't hear within two weeks of the November 1 deadline, you are pretty much waitlisted or rejected? Have there not been phone interview offers in the 3rd week after the November deadline in the past for the first round?

I spoke with some people at SEO and was told that most people are offered phone interviews within one to two weeks of the deadline (in this case it would be Nov. 1). Most strong candidates are notified now, and then if you aren't as strong then you are either waitlisted or notified later altogether.

It is my understanding, however, that corporate finance has already made most of its phone interview offers

UTLife, we might have had the same guy.... it was just question after question. They certainly don't like to waste time.

He said we would know within 2-4 weeks if we get the in-person interview, I believe. But reading last year's thread, it seems like many of them knew in the last 5 minutes of their phone interview whether they would be invited to an in-person interview.

Yes UTLife! You're perfectly right. I forgot a question they asked me about a specific Wall St event and that's the question that kinda shook me up. I was like well that's kind of vague what exactly does she want from me? I took her about American Express and some stuff which I don't think was all that great, but haha guess what guys? Shortly after I wrote that post up above, I got the email stating that I was offered the in person interview woo hoo for me making it to the next rounds! I'm so happy. Thanks to all you well wishers. Good luck to you guys, hopefully we'll be working together at an SEO sponsoring firm!!!

Good luck everyone else and I just want to say make sure you're extra prepared! SEO is no joke, I see.

Congrats obinnadaone! So I guess if you didn't hear back on the same day that's it then. O well it was worth a try.

Hey everyone, I'm a long time lurker but a first time poster on these forums, I decided to register after I had my phone interview with SEO this morning. I had mixed feelings on how it went because i didn't think I did so well, with that put aside I checked my email today to find out that I passed the phone interview and I'm invited for a in-person interview. I applying for IT and I'm a junior coming from a state school with a 3.8 gpa I also held a IT internship last summer at a media firm also I'm employed at the computing services dept at my school doing IT stuff.

Hope these helps!

***....when the hell do we get notified of phone interviews?

congrats obinnadaone! i got invited to the in-person interviews as well. but no celebrating until i actually get accepted into the program! lol.

good luck to everyone! hope to see some of you in NYC this summer.

Just found out that I got the in person interview, so I decided that I'm gonna go to NY on Tuesday and get this thing over with.

Congrats! What program are you interviewing for?

Does anybody know how much importance SEO place on the In-Person interview? From some accounts it seems like that is the main thing they judge you off of....

From what I know, most phone interviews are just personality based questions to make sure you are actually interested in the program/know your resume. The in-person interview is meant to gauge how much you actually know about the industry you applied for and whether you would fit in.. I have my phone interview for SEO next Wednesday and am getting nervous after reading all these posts.. thanks for all the help though!!

ok so it seems that most of us that haven't heard back yet are probably out of luck...finding an internship is going to be especially hard this year. $hit, ****, and fuc|<
