is anybody interviewing in houston

Has anyone gotten a phone interview for Asset Management? It seems like most of the people here are CF or IB.

A-men to that. I think Asset Management and Sales & Trading should hear back this week.

Congrats UTlife! I'm glad you got it! You panicked just like I did but you ended up getting through to the next round. After you go on Tuesday, please come back and post about how it went and about some of the questions they asked you! Thanks

Phone interview is easy if you legitimately like the industry you're applying for.

They asked me:

1) Why SEO?
2) Why IBD?
3) Any questions for me?

Also:

My friend interviewed for Asset Management in person in NYC.

They asked him:

1) what is the square root of 150?

2) what is 13% of 17,000?

3) Tell me about the financial crisis now.

Last year, my friend said she got asked about stocks. I would be prepared with at least 3 stocks that you know inside and out and why you like them.

Also, if you have taken an investment management class, know your stuff inside out, mean variance theorem, betas, CAPM, stats (covariance, correlation), etc.

Question 3 was stated in an imperative fashion as to provoke a nervous response?

So I had my phone interview yesterday from 145-2 and my interviewer was extremely nice! She called about 5 minutes late and was so apologetic. She asked me a lot about SEO and ibanking in relation to the economy right now. She also asked me about any current events going on and I just mentioned the big3 auto companies situation. She asked me how I heard about SEO and why I wanted to do SEO, and why SEO should extend me an offer. The interview lasted around 15 minutes. Overall, I thought it went really well but do you guys know when they'll let you know if you got an in-person interview? My lady said they would notify me within 2 days but I haven't heard anything yet. Do they send out rejections too or do you just assume you got rejected if you don't hear back from them?

or you may just hear back tomorrow. hence "within 2 days"

i heard back about in-person interview literally 2 hours after my phone interview

Interviewed on Tues morning, got invitation for next round 3 hours ago. thought I wasn't gonna get it. but yay!

Yay heard back from them earlier tonight! Has anyone already had their in-person interview??

hey so i had my in person interview this morning and it was mostly personality based questions.. they asked me a little bit about what was going on in the markets and why i wanted to do corp finance but that was it. my interviewers were extremely nice which was unexpected and it was more of a relaxed interview than anything else.. has anyone else had their in person interview yet???

What happens after the in person interview? Is it decision time? Or is there a third round like a second set of in person interviews such as the Big Four's Superday?

i think for previous years it's just been a phone interview and in person interview but who knows.. maybe they're doing more than one round of in person interviews this year?? i was really surprised that i didn't get any quantitative questions or case questions.. does anyone know for sure what's going on??

I also finished my interview yesterday. Does anyone know when they will let us know whether we've made it, move to the 3rd phone or rejection?

Hi guys, I have my first phone interview this monday. My chosen field is corporate finance, I have been reading wall street journal as much as I can and going over typicaly asked interview questions including the ones posted in this forum. Is there anything else i should do before the interview?

I had my phone interview a couple of weeks ago for corp finance and it was mostly all questions on why you want to do ibanking, why they should choose you, and why seo over any other program/applying directly to the firm itself. it sounds like you're already doing this, but make sure you have a broad idea of what's going on in the markets these days and be able to explain maybe one or two of the current events in more detail should they ask.. good luck and let me know how it goes!

Meg926an, do you have an advice on preparing for the in-person interview?

I would say just make sure you have a general idea of what's going on in the markets/economy these days and make sure you can explain everything on your resume. I got a lot of questions about explaining extracurriculars/work experience that was on my resume so make sure you can elaborate on what's on your resume. Also make sure you read through the SEO website and know why you want to do SEO over applying directly to the firm. I think it depends on who interviews you, but I didn't get any case questions/quantitative questions. Then again, that could be just the person that interviewed me. When is your interview??

Alright meg926an, thanks alot. I have it tomorrow, hopefully it goes well!
