SEO Phone Interview

I just had my interview like an hour ago. The interview went by way too fast I felt like it was not enough time. I have no idea how I did. She told me they would notify me by Dec. 15th if I had passed to the next round.

it went by so fast. I answered every question well I thought, but lets see how it goes. I am really nervous. They said I will find out in the next 2-3 weeks, I hope its not a bad sign. They mean business...no small talk. I really want this!

Are you guys talking about the phone interview....?

Any of you guys heard back since the face-to-face?

i was told i'd hear back anytime between now and jan 15, either by phone or by email. im assuming that means if you get an email from seo on the 15th you got rejected?

interestingly enough i didnt get a single markets-related question at my in-person interview. it was just why seo, why my selected field, a really easy technical, and then a ton of stuff specific to one of my work experiences and one of my ec's. this was for corporate finance.

Wow, I can't believe it, not even one market question?. They completely drilled my ass with math, case, and market questions. Amazing....

Phew! Just finished my phone interview for CF (I think they interviewed me a bit later because I'm on the West Coast). Do any of you guys know what the deal is with the recommendations? I think they brought them back this year and we're required to get at least one.

utlife what kind case math and market questions did u get

I have my in-person interview for CF tomorrow morning in Chicago. Lets see how it goes.

yeah i had my corp finance in person interview and i did get asked a pretty detailed question about the whole citi situation (my interview was right after they announced the bailout of citi) but besides that, they just asked me why ibanking, why seo, those general questions. they asked me a simple accounting question but that was about it.

as for recommendations, you need to have them sent in if you're offered an in person interview. when/if you get the email saying you got an in person interview, they attach the recommendation forms to the email.

so are we supposed to hear back any time between now and january 15th? i sent in all my recommendations and official transcript and everything so i'm all set, but i wasn't sure when i would actually find out..

birdman/utlife- do you remember the name(s) of your interviewer?

BTW, in which city did u guys interview?

I interviewed in NYC

i will have mine in houston

I can't remember the names of the interviewers I'm sorry. But, as for the market questions they asked me about citi's job cut, bailout plan, stocks that I would buy, company evaluation, and a couple more.

I am still waiting to hear after phone interview...I feel like I nailed the questions. But you never know...i am getting nervous now.

Is it a bad sign if you applied on about Oct. 10, and still haven't heard ANYTHING back yet?

I was told 2-3 weeks ago that I'd hear in 2-3 weeks (about now) and haven't heard anything.

No phone interview, no nothing

Well they claim you can hear back from them anytime between now and the end of January- so keep your fingers crossed!

I'm out here in LA- seems like everything gets here a little slower than the rest of you!

Did you guys get a rec from a professor or a boss? Also, is it like a "letter" that the prof/boss writes themselves or is it a question and answer form?

I applied on October 23rd, and found out I had a phone interview on Nov 10th.. and then a day after my phone interview, I found out I had an in person interview. I think late January is when they decide who to extend offers too..

And the recommendation form is like a list of checkboxes that your person fills out and they also have to write a separate letter.. For me, I used my supervisor at my internship at Merrill Lynch this past summer and my supervisors for my current job at school.

So basically you're telling me that I have no shot?

I applied for S&T. Maybe that makes a difference since most people here seem to be banking or research?

Are you a junior or sophomore? If you're the latter, they'll probably invite you to SEO-U and then you can lever that to your favor for next year's program.
If you're a junior, you might just have gotten deferred to their next round of interviews.

Meg, why did you get 2 recs? I thought it was just one?
