Hi, I’m a foreign student applying in Spring 2018 to SNU. I’m applying for the international relations program.
We don’t use the gpa system here, so my percentage is about 80% , which is a about a 3.5 when converted to a gpa.
I’m expecting a good TOEFL score, and I’m fluent in Korean so I’m expecting a 4+ on the TOPIK exam.
Extra curriculars:
- Arts head on student council, first year of high school
- Lead singer for our annual school festival, second year of high school
- Speak a total of 4 languages, one being self learnt: korean
- Have a Korean to English lyrics translation blog
- Have had a K-Fashion blog since 2013
- Have attended a few UN seminars
- Have been part of two MUNs, one representing South Korea
- I was part of a french exchange program, done by our school last year
- I interpreted for the students and teachers on a school trip to a village in India which trains old ladies from Latin America in skills required to bring electricity to their home villages. (I am an intermediate Spanish speaker)
- I learnt Tennis for 4 years.
- I have topped my class every year in Spanish, and have been one of the class toppers almost each time in English
- I’ve hosted the annual Spanish language week opening events two times for our school
- I did some volunteer work for a year, and plan to start a youtube channel about my country
I hope my extra curriculars are relevant to my field of study, I’d like to think they are as what I want to convey to the university is my understanding of foreign cultures, and language and how it would play to my advantage when applied to international relations.
