Starbursts: I agree.

Live: Sorry, but I think that's wrong, but I won't say definitely... but have you ever heard of a duck get stuck to ice?

Jibberish: I got that there was only metal in the middle

Starbursts: I agree.

Live: Sorry, but I think that's wrong, but I won't say definitely... but have you ever heard of a duck get stuck to ice?

Jibberish: I got that there was only metal in the middle

i'm pretty sure the answer to the duck thing was arteries....whatever that choice was, because the next paragraph delved into the reasons why a duck would not get stuck and how it was due to arteries or something

hmm, about the duck feet thing: The reason that your tongue sticks to ice, etc. is b/c the ice wants to absorb the heat enegy from your tongue (which is far hotter) and wants it fast! In the reading, it stated that duck feet are normally around 32 degrees and therefore wouldn't have much more heat energy than ice... and therefore wouldn't get stuck...

That's my explanation.

but it wasn't losing heat to the heart....it was losing heat to the ice.

therefore, the answer had to be the arteries-in-appendages thing

Can someone elaborate on the duck's feet question -- question and correct answer?

I disagree with what's been said so far about the question on iridium, getting the highest count. I thought paper should be in between and metal behind, while other people have been putting both paper and metal in between, or putting metal in between and paper behind.

I agree with 'reflecting on situations and conversations' for the passage about Edwina, but all the answer choices were pretty vague and i'm not confident this is the right answer.

i put the same thing as amb3r on the iridium question

Well, the duck feet question asked for a reasonable inference dealing w/ their feet.

A.) They're feet get stuck to ice - Wrong, I explained it above. Post #243

I don't actually remember the other answers but I'm pretty sure I chose B. It has to do with the fact the the duck's feet are cold b/c the veins travelling from the foot to the organs suck up the heat that the arteries travelling from the organs to the veins have. Therefore, the blood that reaches the feet is already cold.

reid, i understand that, but i don't remember putting down any answer relating to the arteries in a duck's feet, so i wanted to know what the answer was, not just what the concept behind the answer is.

I put paper in between as well.

On the Iridium question I put only metal in b/t because:

There were 3 diff. "pieces" of Iridium used. #4, 5, and 6

4 had paper only in bt and had the lowest amt in the table

5 and #6 had the same amt in the table, w/ 5 having metal in bt, and 6 having nothing.

There is no choice w/ nothing in bt, but there is a choice with only metal. All other choices have paper in bt, with or without metal. Since paper seems to lower the amt, and metal has no effect, I picked the choice w/ only metal in bt.

Does that make sense?

Hmm, I don't remember the duck answer, but I think I agree with you that the word "arteries" was not in the answer. I think there was a wrong answer with that word though... at least wrong in respect to what I put, lol

lol reid, i didn't think any others made sense besides the arteries one. which barely made sense itself.

has anyone who previously took the test do better on the test than they felt they did when walking out? (kind of like the AP Calc AB exam this year ;) )

my stupid proctor gave us 41 mins for english..so stupid and she kept telling us we couldn't write in the test booklet

who thought the math section required a little more thinking than the last ones?

dankstar that sucks so bad...............i would sue that b****

reid2575:

4 had nothing

5 had paper

6 had metal

At first I read the same thing as you did, and I had to reread the paragraph 3 times before I figured out it said #5 had paper, #6 had metal and the other one has none. Those tricky ACT writers wrote it out of order! Plus, metal stops radiation (learned from physics and chemistry).

SO the correct answer would have paper in middle and metal on outside.

edit: UHHHHH OHHHHH.... the question did ask for which picture would result in most radiation... right??

In english section:
1) Is it "designated to" OR "designated for"???
2) Was "had wrote" a correct answer? (I thought it should have been "had written" but none of the other choices made sense!)

In science section:
STUPID JUPITER ESCAPE VELOCITY!! I thought I was being smart by dividing the number they gave us by 6!!! ARGH!!!

I put designated for....designated 'for' the use, not 'to' the use...just my two cents though, not sure if it's right..

I can't remember the question for had wrote..

what was ? for the designated one

"Had written"

are you sure metal wasn't in the middle? i'm pretty sure metal was in the middle

and i still don't get why everyhting escaped jupiter's velocity. i said all of them stay in the atmosphere
