September 2010 ACT English Discussion

I thought the English was the easiest subject, it was not difficult at all. Though, the math on the other-hand, was hard…

i breezed through 58/60 questions in math. either i messed up bad or i knew them . i am more logical. I like math over English. thats why my reading is always bad :(

@airfreshener and actpro No change for what? the sentence was like “with eight foot wide, long separate paths, blah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah.” So the writer was listing different things. It cant be right because ‘eight foot wide’ should modify the next phrase. Yes, you need the comma after ‘eight foot wide’ but then there needs to be a new sentence, and the new sentence cant just be filled will tons of nouns…

^there wasn’t a better option

^^ if I remember correctly it was “eight foot wide lanes”, not just “eight foot wide”

leaving the comma in there was correct.

dude you couldnt have made a new sentence because the sentence would have been just nouns = NOT a sentence.

so you should have juust left the comma there.

I had b/g/b/g too, so I’m sure it’s correct

What was the answer to the very first question? The one with celebrity, popularity, and 2 other choices. And it asked which one did not work.

^reward. You’re hot

Dang if that’s the answer then that’s the first one I got wrong in the English so far. Well, from what I’ve read on this forum.

^that’s ok. You’re still hot.

What was the answer to the question that had:

 • became
 • become

I put become

damn, that eight foot wide question was like choosing the best of the worst.

become is correct. HAD indicates the usage of past perfect.

Woot, thanks airfreshener

What was the context for became/become?
