September 2015 ACT Curve

Thanks you haha, I’ll definitely work on changing my name to something more positive!! @1stimer

@1stimer pay some guy in Australia to check for you :slight_smile:

It’s after 5:00am CT (actually it’s 6:30am CT) and no scores yet … sigh … but good idea on the Australian checker!

Being in Australia would not matter because it is dependent on the central time, not Australian time

Please let me know when they post! They could be working on the massive curve. : )

Just saw this on the ACT website:
This morning we are experiencing some technical difficulties with our September 12 test score release. We are working to get them out ASAP. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Hopefully they’ll fix this soon. I can’t wait any longer!

@TheWaffleMan149 - I think Satan6969 just meant the person in Australia would already be awake and could check for us sleeping in MT CT or ET zones. The waiting is beyond frustrating. They need someone from the Apple Genius Bar to fix their technical difficulties.

My son really struggled with the math.

I think if you missed 2 on the math you could still get a 36.

For me, I don’t know exactly how many I missed, but I feel like I missed 3 or 4, and I still got a 35.

hmm… well I thought I missed 2, maybe 3 max and I got a 35 in math

Okay. Here is how we are going to formulate an accurate curve for this test. This is the method we used in December of 14 and it ended up being near exact.

Tier I:
Okay, everyone with a 34 on MATH, how many do you estimate you missed? (Reasonable guess: -4, -5);
Everyone with a 35 on ENGLISH, how many do you estimate you missed? (Reasonable guess: -2);
Everyone with a 34 on SCIENCE, how many do you estimate you missed (Reasonable guess; -2, -3);
Everyone with a 35 on READING, how many you estimate that you missed (Reasonable guess; -2);

Tier 2:
Everyone with a 31 on MATH, how many do you estimate you missed? (Reasonable guess: -8,-9);
Everyone with a 30 on ENGLISH, how many do you estimate you missed? (Reasonable guess: -5,-6);
Everyone with a 31 on SCIENCE, how many do you estimate you missed (Reasonable guess; -5);
Everyone with a 32 on READING, how many you estimate that you missed (Reasonable guess; -4,-5);

Tier 3:
Everyone with a 28 on MATH, how many do you estimate you missed? (Reasonable guess: -12,-13);
Everyone with a 29 on ENGLISH, how many do you estimate you missed? (Reasonable guess: -7,-8);
Everyone with a 28 on SCIENCE, how many do you estimate you missed (Reasonable guess; -7);
Everyone with a 27 on READING, how many you estimate that you missed (Reasonable guess; -7,-8);

If you do not wish to answer in the thread, you can PM me. I will aggregate the data and post a curve. This is the exact way the ACT formulates a curve as well: mass data statisticians forming representative curves.

So, I’m one of the unlucky few who still haven’t gotten our scores back yet. Does anyone who got scores already know how lenient the math curve was? I’m hoping for a generous one, since I would guess I missed about 10 questions, maybe 15 at the very worst. I’m highkey freaking out about it, so if anyone can help that’d be great :confused:

@appgodxoxo

I think I missed 3 in Math for a 35.

I think I missed 2 in English for a 35.

I think I missed 2-3 in Reading for a 34.

I think I missed 4-5 in science for a 32.

I think that I missed 2 for a 35 in English
I think that I missed too many (probs 11ish) for a 29 in Math
I think that I missed 4-5 (may be wrong) for a 32 in Reading
I think that I missed 0 for a 36 in science

Hope that helped!!!

@hermit9 Your data is accurate with my curve. I really need good data on reading. I’m going to bet it’s -1 = 36, based of off subscores. Science was basically proven harsh, so you missed -4 on S. (chance for a -5, maybe… no subscores to indicate)

Still waiting for the scores to come out! My daughter took the test in Brattleboro VT.

@appgodxoxo I did have reading subscores 18 and 17 if that helps any. I know they’re not indicative of scores, but thought it might help.

I didn’t know that the ACT had a curve :open_mouth: I’m glad other people think that the math was incredibly hard.

By my understanding, the math curve is decently lenient, but nothing out of this world great.
