How much will colleges care abut the writing grade now that they changed it?

I talked to my son. He took the June ACT. He felt that over all this test wasn’t any harder or easier than the June one. He does think he probably did better on the math section this time.
He addressed all 3 view points in the essay.
@Skylar789 First time is always iffy. Hope you did alright
Everything feels so off about this test! I liked the new essay, a lot. The MC, however, that was rough.
Math went pretty well for me. I’m pretty good at math and had about 15 minutes left. Then I read the last question, which I spent literally 10 minutes on before realizing that I was missing a super simple way to solve it in about 10 seconds…
English was fine, maybe even a little easy. Reading was awesome and I had like 10 extra minutes to check over answers. Pretty good considering I usually have about 2 minutes to read the last passage. I also thought that science was a little less data analysis and more science knowledge than usual.
I actually got a 35 when I took the ACT a couple years ago but I had to retake it with writing, which I felt pretty good about, though perhaps a bit crunched on time.
Good luck to everyone! I hope we all get the scores we wanted!!
Honestly I thought that the science section was really compared to a few pracice ones I took and the official I took in April 2015. The math was definately harder than usual. The english and reading were ok. The essay i thought was really easy too. I was expecting it to be a lot harder because of the new format but I realized that it was actually easier for me. Hoping for that 34.
How did you guys do?
@TheWaffleMan149 I had the same form and I agree that the last question was pretty difficult (I spent like 10 minutes on it). I finished the whole section with about five minutes left, but I feel really stupid because there was a pretty simple way to solve that question…
Math is always my best section and I usually finish in time, but on this one I had to guess on 4 (2 were an educated guess and 2 completely random because I didn’t even have time to read the question). I had 73D
So when will the scores be released? Isn’t it usually two weeks from this Thursday or something like that? Our instructor said 5-8 weeks
@hsalem32 Colleges ususally dont really care about the writing unless you want to major in english or have a really low score like a 2 or 3.
The essay was so easy this time. I really like the new topic format because they practically give you what you have to write about in each paragraph.
@maaz97 As a person that has take more thatn 10 full lenght practice act, I can assure you that the scrience section will not have a large curve since it was actually easier than before.
@viola627 Funny you say that, my instructor said 5-8 weeks also!!!
I agree @NUC13AR on the science. There are probably going to be a lot of skips in the curve
@maaz97 I feel the same way. I was expecting it be hard but instead it was easy.
CURVE PREDICTIONS?
Do bs/md programs really care about the writing test? I did really good on all the sections except for the essay. I didn’t have time to finish the conclusion. And my arguments were mediocre.
@Kat2016 I felt like the math section was harder than usual this time around too. However When I took in April, I was in a similar situation, guessed on like 5, and i still got a 34 on it so dont sweat it.
