@HereToHelpYou Thank you very much!! You’re very informative! Is it true that there’s a chance that some people who do poorly on the SAT do better on the ACT? Sorry for all of the questions!
Oh yes, @Lionking2398, that is very possible. So give the ACT a try and see where you stand. Try to mimic the tests conditions as much as possible. Go to a quite place and time each section, then score the test.
Wait what? I have never seen grid-in questions on the ACT like they have on the SAT. The ACT Math is all Multiple Choice.
I scored a 2130 on SAT first time and 31 on ACT first time.
Same score correlation, but in an interesting turn on events, my scores on each subject were lopsided on both tests.
I can read pretty quickly so I answer as the question comes up. In my opinion, if the question is asking you on main idea, you can easily just skim the paragraphs since the writing level is pretty basic.
By the way, how do you guys focus on the Science section? I feel like getting a headache whenever I practice Science because of the overabundance of information.
@ivyrunnernyc For both Reading and Science, what I do is use my pencil. For Reading, as I skim through, I underline whatever I think is important. How do I know what exactly to underline? I don’t. But just the act of doing so helps me concentrate.
For Science, if the question says Figure 2 or something and asks about a particular graph, I zero in and only focus on that section by putting my pencil on the graph.
I can’t really find this on the website, but does anyone know how long the break is between the Math and Reading section, as well as for the break between the Science and Writing section?
Hi everyone, I wanted an advice for the Sept test. So ive been practicing for the act about a year now, I’m a good student with a 4.2. On the April test I got a 26. See, I was confused because on the practice tests I was taking at home with timing and everything being legit I would get 30s. I took it again in June and got a 28, this time I was getting 33s on my practice tests at home. These are legit tests I’m taking from the act test writers. I’ve read almost every book and done everything I can but I need a 32 or higher. Any advice would be appreciated.
Using real tests is good. Keep doing that. But consider testing with a group of students. Taking a test at home by yourself is not the same as testing in a strange environment with other students. Distractions are a big part of the testing experience.
Just wondering, what do your guys’ study plans look like as of now? I’m just trying to take a practice test each week and do/review corrections each week. But still don’t know if that’s enough practice?
Question! What strategy do you use for prose fiction?? I’m just not a fast reader and I always lack time in reading. For other passage I usually first read the first sentence of each paragraph and then tackle on the question. Unfortunately, for prose fiction this strategy does not work well… Help… ;(
