September ACT Curve Predictions

Goes like 0 -1 -2 -3 -4 -5 -6

English 36 35 34 33 32 31 30

Math 36 35 34 34 33 32 31

Reading 36 35 34 33 33 32 31

Science 36 36 35 34 32 32 31

I think it mightbe more lignant for the science because it was kind of hard.

^ Keep dreaming. The science curve is almost never lenient.

I like how people on CC assume no one here gets anything below a 30. haha.
And yes!! The science is ridiculous.

Or because I’m too lazy to go down to 20 or 15? Well thought out assumption

Nice try though!

I agree, the is never lenient. I took a practice ACT (it was an actual exam) and thought it was pretty hard. I got 6 wrong, and that got me a 27!

I’m hoping for a huge curve on the math & science sections!

If the curve is like that of practice test 3 in the red book, I will not complain.

I thought you divided the correct answer by the total questions in that section and times that by 36.

The curve for the ACT is not like the SAT. If you get 1 wrong, it is automatically a 35. So -1 in science will be a 35, not a 36.
http://www.act.org/aap/pdf/preparing.pdf</a>
go to page 63 in the file and it will give you the curve that is pretty standard for the ACT. There might be a slight 1 point difference depending on the test version but this should be pretty accurate.

The mcgraw hills act 10 past papers guide says i have to use the method i posted above to get my score. If thats wrong, then my actual score is alot lower then. like a raw score of 53 on math would be 32 of scaled scored using the mcgraw method, but if using the method from the pdf, it is only 30. :(

The PDF i posted above was released by the actual ACT company

^ Wrong at least 2 practice tests in the red book (ACTual ACT tests) heave -1 and -2 be a 36

Science is and will never be that lenient. At all. -1 will always result in at least a 35 in that section.

^no. On the June test -1 was a 36

obviously you never used the red book

Little off topic, but is it easier to get a higher score on the ACT than the SAT?
I took a practice ACT English test with no previous revision/tips and got 71 out of 75. and got around 54/60 in Math.
Ill give ACT another try see if i can improve my scores.

Is there any chance math’'s 36 is minus 1?

I’d love that cus i screwed up on a ridiculously easy question lol

There’s a chance, but it’s slim.

It’s definitely likely, however i think the curve will go something like 36 35 35 34 33 32 31 31 (0 -1 -2 -3 -4 -5 -6 -7 -8). I dont think it was so difficult to warrant a -1 36 but it’s definitely possible. many people thought it was pretty hard.

@soldier it’s harder to get a higher score. The ACT is curved so that to get a perfect/near perfect score, you need to get almost every question right. SAT CR has pretty fair room for error
