how did yours go?

i only got 4 paragraphs and it was mostly circular logic but then again short-periods-of-time essays have never been my thing

My essay was 4 paragraphs… and I was pretty happy with it. Yeah, mine had circular logic that confused me hahaha. I think I said the words “participation” and “discussion” a lot. That’s what my topic was about. Are we allowed to talk about essay topics yet?

collaboration x 1000 + participation x 2000 = my essay, damn discussion would have been a good one to use

Haha. I managed to rack up participation, collaboration, and discussion.

Mine was pretty bad. I didn’t really address the other side, and I also wanted to switch sides 15 minutes in, but it was too late lol.

ya, I also mentioned that although tests and papers are important in evaluating academic understanding logially crafting and defending a discussion about that information is important as well, for my rebut

and giving weight to participation incourges discussion therefore defending my point above, and that appllication of a concept is impotant to understand and using credit as an incentive

I haaated the essay topic. I don’t even think I answered the question correctly. But I did write four paragraphs which ended up being just over two pages. I think I could have written all the same stuff in 4 sentences.

Participation grades are bad.

3 paragraphs with 3 scenarios.

Conclusion: Participation grades suck.

^^ i had sorta the same reasons. We could only support one side right? or did we have to support both?

you can support one side or the other, or you can somehow support both or neither. like… say make participation only as bonus points or something. or make it depend on the class. but you have to take some sort of stand.

Paragraphs:

It was a nice prompt :). At least it wasn’t the “Is honesty the best policy” thing.

I should of talked about future policy makers… .ugh :(

i had 5 paragraphs… 1 to adress the other side. i ALMOST ran out of room.

Yea. As time came close to an end, my nicely spaced print became some nasty cursive that took up so much space.

I usually struggle with writing a lot during such a short period of time (30 minutes…really?) but since I heard that ACT rewards longer essays, I made sure to have enough to say. Surprisingly I was able to make 5 paragraphs, and i think i filled about 2 and a quarter pages, I have tiny handwriting…hopefully they’ll be able to read it!

Do they reward using extremely specific examples? Most of mine were more on the vague side…I’d predict I got a 9/10 which is up from my last time!

I had 5 paragraphs and felt really good.
Used a lecture I had from Dr. Cornel West about paideia and two other good examples

That was the worst essay of my entire ACT taking career! Ha, what’s funny is that when the procter yelled stop, I was in the process of writing the last word of my essay. Anyway, I hated the essay topic! As I was walking out of my school, I saw my last year’s English teacher who was complaining about the essay prompt, she thinks it was lame.

Um, I wrote a story that I made up to be by own experience with getting grades lower than I thought I deserved because I was too afraid to participate in class because I didn’t understand the material discusses in class (Of course, I disagree with a participation grade). You think that was too risky? I’m really nervous now.

f*** that essay topic!!

they should’ve just asked about world peace or something…

Lol am I the only one that LIKED the topic and genuinely felt class participation should be counted for a grade???
