I have a few questions. Also, this September will be my first time taking the ACT.

My parents have really been pushing for me to study 6 or more hours a day to prepare/ensure a good score (34+). However, I have been unable to study the six hours on many of the days. So to all the people that actually studied to get their 34+ (I know some of you have managed to get that without studying, but I want to study just in case), how much did you study (also note that this is the only summer of test prep for me)?

Could someone give me tips on the science and reading sections? Personally, I think I have these sections down, but my scores vary a lot. The scores fall between a 27 to a 32+ (based on practice tests).

Look up this one person’s thread “How I got some 22 to 34+.” They mention a few helpful tips for reading and science!

6 hours a day is quite a bit for any standardized test. I got a 32 composite without any studying (although I had previously studied a bit for the SAT).

@rspence- when you applied to MIT, did you use your SAT or ACT score?
