Seriously can I get into Brown with 1750 SAT + 75 TOEFL?

@tnedifnocegelloc
I talked from my personal experience. I got in with mediocre SAT scores but very good essays, GPA, and stellar extracurricular activities. It really depends on OP’s overall performance through her four years in high school.

For the record, taking math 1 and math 2 SATIIs is not recommended.

My counselor said that a Stanford admission officer called her yesterday to ask for some information about me and their discussion lasted half an hour. Is this the same for every other applicant?

Oh I am sorry; this is the Brown thread.

Brown takes SAT scores VERY seriously.

lol.
what was the discussion about?

SAT scores - just one factor among many others that they consider. If Brown takes SAT scores VERY seriously, I wouldn’t be here.

Sophy, SAT scores being just one factor and Brown taking SAT scores VERY seriously are not mutually exclusive possibilities.

Everything I’ve seen from the admissions office suggests that they take SAT scores VERY seriously. If you have low SAT scores, you basically end up with a rebuttable presumption that you won’t be able to carry the weight academically at Brown. If you don’t manage to rebut that presumption, you almost certainly won’t get in. Brown turns away VERY talented people every year because they don’t believe that they will be able to handle the academics.

Good job - you got into Stanford against the odds :)

<<Thank you guys very much for all your judgments. I had an alumni interview with Brown yesterday and he said “Your language is very great!”

I do not hope too much. I just tried my best. Let the admission committee decide the result! >>

Oh lordy

^^^^ huh??? He got into Stanford, this thread is 10 mos old ;)

I’m glad you got into Stanford after all, your life story must’ve been absolutely amazing to get in with those scores as an international.

OR

you just posted some random location that would make you look good (I hope not…)

typical Asian student with SAT2 math 1 and math 2… lol
