Hi guys. I am a desperate Chinese with really low standardized test scores: SAT 1: 1750; SAT 2---Math 1: 700, Math 2: 700; TOEFL 75. (Plus I need full financial aid.) Do you know anyone with the same stats getting into Wharton and other Ivies (I am also applying to Harvard, Yale, Brown, Cornell, Stanford.)

My essays are really unique---I worked hard on them.

I would say only if your father or mother is the President of PR China or the President of the top 10 corporations in China, the chances are SLIM. Really SLIM!

roll a million sided die with all different face values, if you roll a 363,871 then you have a 10% chance of getting in, if not, then you have practically no chance at all, sorry

I’m sorry, but I have to agree with the people who posted above. Your stats are already fairly low for a school like wharton and your ethnicity will make it even harder. You still have a chance, it’s just very slim. My advice is to apply and see what happens, and if you end up not getting in just try to get into the best school you can, do stellar there, and then try to either transfer (also crazy hard to do) or consider wharton for grad school. I wish you good luck

i think you’re aiming a bit too high… Harvard, Yale, Brown, Cornell, Stanford, and Wharton are all really good schools. and you need full financial aid… a good TOEFL score could make up for a bad SAT score, but unfortunately you don’t have that either. perhaps look at some other colleges, not just the highly ranked ones

knightwinner: Hi, I live in Beijing. Nice to meet you.

Dear all,
Thank you very much for all your straightforward replies. I have been studying English for only one year and a half. Maybe I will try to pursue a graduate degree in America later. Wharton has always been my first choice, and I will apply to its MBA program. :)

^the fact that you are from beijing might change things. My response was based off of the assumption that you were from the US; I’m sorry, but I haven’t studied Wharton addmissions for international students that well, so you could have a better chance then I had originally guessed. . .I can’t really say one way or another though

Do not let anyone discourage you- you never know until you try!
People on CC believe that scores are the most important factors colleges look at. You should know that you are not your numbers! There are people with 2400 SATs getting rejected from the top schools. However, the other day I read a post about a person who got into stanford with 1700!
But I do suggest you retake the TOEFL. I’m an international student too, btw.
