Seriously do I have like ANY chance of getting in?

I applied in mid-september and I still haven't heard back. I'm getting really really frustrated with the wait seeing that other people are hearing back in a matter of weeks.

Do you think I'm good.. or no?

You should get in. Your GPA is in range, and your ACT is in the top of middle 50%. Don’t freak out. Sometimes applications just take a while to process.

The only two things you have working against you is your low GPA in junior year and your OOS status. I’d still say you’re in though.

Yeah your stats are above average besides GPA, which fall within average. Though you have taken a very rigious courseload in high school so I think your chances of getting in are above average.

Ok sweet. It made me feel a lot better to read that I have a chance.

But why is it taking so long for my decision when other people on here and in my school who applied AFTER me already have decisions?

I guess it’s just sort of a luck of the draw type deal. I applied way later than you (late October) and got my acceptance letter last Thursday. Then again, my stats were higher (3.83 UW GPA, 30 ACT) and I’m in-state, so I’m sure that all plays a role. So long as the University has all your stuff, I’m sure your fine. Good luck!

I don’t even know if they have all my stuff. Since September, it’s said:

Your application is being processed. Please see below for the status of required documents. Applications are processed in date order once all documents have been received.

Item Item Received Source
High School Transcript 9/21/2009
Personal Statement 9/22/2009
ACT Scores 5/12/2009 ACT

^ Is there anything else that should be showing up on this list that is yet to appear?

Mine never said anything besides that. Though if I were you, I’d just give the Office of Undergraduate Admissions a call and see what’s up. Though their suggested turn-around time is 8-10 weeks from receiving your completed application, so you’re still within that window. I wouldn’t worry too much unless they tell you otherwise when you call.

^ Dude thanks so much. Seriously.

What’s the next thing I should expect it to say?

Here is what mine said:

Application Status
A decision was made on Wednesday, October 07, 2009. An official letter was mailed to you. Admission decisions are not provided over the telephone. Decision letters are mailed to applicants and typically take 7-10 business days to receive.

Mine said the exact same thing and I got my letter of acceptance 3 days after that (again, in-state here, so it’ll probably be closer to that 7-10 for you). Good luck!

Yeah, my acceptance letter arrived on October 13th!
I was really excited as MSU was where I wanted to go.

lol, dude, I think you’re a lock… and yeah, I think it’s just a matter of the college taking a while to process things

Tulane took 2 and a 1/2 weeks to process my transcript; admissions offices are just really busy, lol

If there is a problem, just call the Admissions Office and there should be no problems

Gah I’m like freaking out.

So the status goes directly from the one I have now to “A decision has been made…?” There’s no “all documents have been received and we are reviewing your application” type of thing?

^ No. Mine said what yours says now until last week, and now it says:

Your application file is complete. There is no decision at this time. Decisions are typically made 10 to 12 weeks after all application materials are received. Once the Admissions Review Committee has made a decision regarding your application, an official letter will be mailed to you. Admission decisions are not provided over the telephone.

I’m not sure why it says this though. It makes me feel like there’s a long wait ahead.

OP- you’re in. It took me two months to hear from MSU and I had a 3.94 and 29 act. There are so many applicants right now-they’re processing everything as quickly as possible. Just give it a while.

Tommyx6, it sounds like you got deferred.

Cody, no… that’s not what it means. It means “Hey we got your app, haven’t read it though. Check back later.”

^ My bad.

It’s been two and a half MONTHS and my status is STILL:

Your application is being processed. Please see below for the status of required documents. Applications are processed in date order once all documents have been received.

…why are they taking so long for me? I’m 100% certain that they have all my materials…

Cody, CHILL OUT. Seriously. November is their busiest month and it takes a while to process. If you’re that worried call and ask. They say 10-12 weeks. You are still WELL WITHIN that time frame.
