My daughter is applying for several of the WUSTL scholarship programs (Engineering Academic Fellowship Program, Danforth Scholars Program, Annika Rodriguez Scholars Program, John B. Ervin Scholars Program, McKelvey Undergraduate Research Scholarships, and Summer Scholars Program in Biology and Biomedical Research). Does anyone know the answers to the following questions:

What kind of coordination and/or membership overlap is there among the committees that review the applications? Will they be aware of what other scholarships an applicant might be in the running for? If an applicant qualifies for more than one, how do they decide which one the student gets?

The Danforth Scholars application material does not mention recommendations. Does anyone know if a recommendation beyond the initial nomination is required for the Danforth Scholars application?

Are there any other colleges besides WUSTL where the scholarship applications have to be completed before the student even knows if they have been accepted to the college? The other ones I have seen either base the scholarships on information from the college application or notify the students early that they have been accepted and then ask them to fill out scholarship application forms. It seems like there could be a lot of wasted effort on scholarship applications if WUSTL doesn’t accept the student, especially given WUSTL’s reputation for waitlisting qualified students.

I also had a related question concerning time commitments in the various scholarship programs in this post:

Thanks!
