Sewanee Environmental Institute: Field Studies

We were impressed with our visit to Sewanee last summer but it was hard to get a feel for the school and how it fits with the surrounding environment…it’s remoteness might be difficult for our CA girl.
Does anyone have experience with this summer program for high school students?
It is rather affordable and seems like a good way to check the school out.

Anyone familiar with Sewanee’s summer programs?

You may have some luck posting this on the Sewanee site under the Universities and Colleges list.

Looking at the Field Studies program too. Does anyone know if attending one of the summer programs gives a student preference for admission or scholarships? S is also considering the Miami of Ohio summer program- attending that program is beneficial for scholarships and honors etc.

My son attended the program the summer before last, and he loved it. He loved it so much, Sewanee is his first choice, and he just found out tonight he got in. He thought the students who attended and the professors and staff who worked there were great (and he’s a cynical kind of guy). I also understand that if you are accepted and attend the SEI, you get a $5k scholarship award. That’s probably a one-time award, but it still helps!

Thanks for the response! It seems like a unique program and it’s not too expensive.
It fact, it seems like a very unique school all around.
Congrats on your son’s admission!
