Haha, I know. Mine was a sarcastic response back -- it failed, notably so. :/

Yep, no need to worry guys, no low income housing developments have sprung up on campus yet.

ha, I like the "yet" added to that statement.

So - as a nervous parent who just sent in the deposit... what were all the news vans there for... Was there a drive by shooting. Huh??? What is the real story for those of us outside the loop?

SGC: Rightbackatyou was joking. The news vans were there probably to get a statement from the Tufts Police Dept. that this guy was caught. Medford/Somerville isn't /that/ exciting ;)

sgc123 As a parent of a freshman D, you can rest assured that Tufts is a safe campus as colleges go. Having said that, I still tell my D to always walk with someone else after dark or whenever possible.

Lolabelle is correct, I was joking, there really aren't any public housing projects on the Tufts campus and there certainly haven't been any drive by shootings either. It's a lovely campus very safe part of town. I mean, really, if you remember the citcom "Full House" that's what type of neighborhood it's in. Extremely suburban, extremely safe.

"Medford/Somerville isn't /that/ exciting"

I don't know, you ever been to downtown Somerville? The part that borders East Boston? I suspect things get pretty dicey down there after dark. But this is like 20 miles from the Tufts campus so it wont matter to any of the students.
