I know my ECs are sorta weak..no substantial research, huge national awards, etc. Nonetheless, what do you think about my chances for getting into one of the privates? I'm desperately trying to avoid going to a UC next year..thannnks guys =D

I think you have a very good chance at all those schools. Good luck with Stanford!

Overall, your test scores are drop-dead gorgeous, and your academic record is quite superb. EC's are pretty solid as well. I think overall you are as competitive at all those schools as is anyone else applying there. It will come down to your recommendations and essays. I'm sure you'll do fine, though; you have a good shot at all of those places, and I think you are bound to get into at least a few of them. Overall, Wharton is an extremely selective school, and I would say that you can try for Wharton, but it will be hard. Good luck with Stanford and all your other schools, by the way :)

UCB/UCLA: safe match
UCSD: safety

haha i like kalliparap's way of saying it..
"drop dead gorgeous"
i agree!
your scores ARE drop dead gorgeous, and your ECs seem pretty strong to me!
good luck!!

why are you even on this discussion board. With your scores and grades you know what colleges are looking for. No need to come online and boast. You probably have done extensive research on colleges and you know your chances.

8ball22: I'm sorry if I came across as boa****l, but that really wasn't my intention.

I kind of have a dilemma too..I applied EA at stanford, which has a policy of not accepting scores past the october date. My SAT Is were from the November date. The improvement is exactly 100 points--I went from a 2280 to a 2380.

My counselor is calling them to see if there's any way that my new scores will get in for EA, but if they don't, should I switch to RD? or just pray that I'm not rejected outright, and send scores again when I'm deferred? Or rush a score report anyway, even if they say they won't accept it?

I'm so confused about what to do...I'm not sure if my application is strong enough without the new SAT scores, and Stanford is definitely my top choice. My parents think I should just switch to RD. any advice?

wow..they star out b o a s t f u l .. lol

if you send them your scores and maybe an email that mentions your improvement, even if they dont want to officially look at them, it cant hurt your chances since they are not blind!

cryst4lx3:

UCB/UCLA: Safe Match
UCSD: Safety

your scores are great...try to stand out with your papers and recs...any unique things will help ya!

I'm pretty sure Stanford is need blind to US citizens. Therefore, you might want to apply for financial aid if your not international. All the ivies are need blind as well.

The last test schools accept for EA is October, otherwise they would say Nov is ok just send us your scores.

By the way those are great scores.

You have one of the best scores I have seen. Like everybody said, beautiful SAT scores, wonderous ECs, awards, etc. I mean, I see you as a shoo-in and will be shocked if you don't get in to the majority of the schools of your choice.

I don't know why you're worried - its everybody else, including myself, who should be worried.

Let us know when you're in :D

BTW, how did you get these awards?
MIT leadership award (for math, science & leadership)
math/science/english student of the year (various

Thanks for all the encouragement guys...hopefully everything goes as well as predicted.

I decided that I'm going to rush my scores to Stanford, but also have my counselor send an email reassuring that we do not expect them to be considered for EA. That way, they'll still know about them, so maybe it will play a subconscious role in the EA committes anyway?

kisstheskyxx: the MIT leadership award is given by local alumni clubs, and nominations are by teacher recommendation. The 'student of the year' ones are just schoolwide...I'm not sure how much weight they actually carry.

goodluck
lol
