SF State is a school I'm looking at and one of the criteria I have for a school is if it is a fun school with lots of parties. It seems everywhere I turn I cant get a straight answer, just a lot of guff for wanting to go to a school that has parties so if I could just get some answers that'd be great.

It’s more of a commuter school. We knew a boy who went there and when the weekend came he was ready for some activity. Unfortunately, a lot of the kids he knew were driving or taking BART home to their respective homes in the Bay area. Or they already lived at home. It wouldn’t be my first choice for the total residential college experience. Sure, the city of SF is fun, but you can’t go to nightclubs until you turn 21.

Thanks for the advice

I went to SF State and called home the first months saying that I wanted to go to a real college. It does have a large population of local kids but the dorms were a blast. A lot of groups of kids would get a house off campus the second year and there was always a party to be found. But by the end of the second year the clubs started to have more of a draw and the parties dwindled the third and fourth years.

SF is a great city with a wide variety of events and entertainment. If you are looking for a college only atmosphere it would not be SF State.

Thanks mitchwebb, that’s kinda what I’m looking for, I’m local but I want to move out. Since you’re saying the dorms are pretty nice that’s big plus, I just wanted to know if it had a pretty sociable atmosphere and it was a fun college. Would you say overall it was like that?

I think it is very sociable if you choose to involve yourself in the atmosphere. I think another plus is the number of international students af SF State. You will meet students from all over the world while living in the dorms.
