Sharing an essay that got me into Dartmouth, Williams, Notre Dame, etc.

Since I've now graduated and am heading off to college, I wanted to share my common app essays. I remember how amazingly stressful it was during senior year worrying about essays and polishing and re-polishing stuff, so I thought it might help you guys give some ideas/brainstorming clues about essays if I shared mine with you guys.

If it's worth anything, this essay got me into Dartmouth, Williams (early write), Swarthmore (early write), Pomona, U of Notre Dame, BU and Macalester.

Disclaimer: Strangely, it seems to be very popular with liberal-arts colleges or liberal-arts style institutions, but not so much with big research-themed universities as all of my rejections/waitlists came from big research universities (including Cornell...which I didn't really understand). laugh

If you're interested, PM me. :)

I always get paranoid about sharing my essays.

It would be a great resource for the younger classes if '09ers posted their (successful) essays in this thread. Or, if they didn’t want to post them outright, they could indicate that they’d be willing to share the pieces by PM.

Just a thought.

And thanks, limetime, for being so generous.

I PMed you, lifetime. I really appreciate it!

sorry that my inbox was full and couldn’t receive some of your PMs. I cleared it out, so please try again if you couldn’t get through before.

PM me those essays!

**If you’re interested, PM me. **

simple instruction is simple.

BananaSandwich15, I used to be entirely paranoid, too (I never offered up mine for edits or anything), but now that I’m into college and 99% of colleges closed their deadlines for applying for the 2008-2009 year, I think it’s okay. ^^;

Class of 2010! Some ideas for my college essays would be great. PM me when you can! And thanks!
