And here's my re-post:

Shauna, I wasn't posting much last year when you were going through your saga, but I followed it as a lurker and -- like everyone else -- gained so much admiration and respect for you. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

And here's my re-post:

Shauna, I wasn't posting much last year when you were going through your saga, but I followed it as a lurker and -- like everyone else -- gained so much admiration and respect for you. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Shauna-
Add another crying mother to the list. I, too, mostly read last year, and followed your saga. I cried with you when you had your disappointments and this cry is oh so much better!!! You must have hundreds-no, more like thousands- of people in tears over it all! Congrats sweetie! You will no doubt go far and we will all be cheering for your continued success!

Another mom celebrating. Congratulations!

LA

I realize I am starting to sound like a terrible broken record, but: thank you. I had absolutely no idea there were so many people out there rooting for me this way! It means so, so much.

I just called and withdrew my Sam application; my understanding was that there are only five spots available and I am sure the competition is stiff enough without having someone potentially take up a spot that could go to someone else.

I am truly going to miss North Texas! I love to death the friends I have made here and the music school is fantastic. It's only two hours away though...I'm already planning road trips back to visit. :-)

It looks like there will be a lot of changes happening in the theatre department but I'm sure the program will be stronger than ever when everything gets settled. The tech program especially is really good here.

And for those who want the complete story (saga? I didn't realize I had a saga! cool! :-) ): during my senior year of high school, I auditioned for PPU, CCM, CMU, UCLA, OCU, UNCo, NYU Tisch, and UMich to no avail. I have spent the last year at the University of North Texas in (what was) the pre-BFA MT program, in which students auditioned for the MT BFA at the end of their sophomore year. However, that program (in addition to BFA Tech/Design and BFA Acting) was put on hiatus during this last semester, to be reinstated sometime around 2007 (or thereabouts). I re-auditioned the first week of April for Sam Houston and OCU and got accepted to OCU for musical theatre for fall '05 on a talent scholarship.

So...yay! :-D

Shauna

Here's another "lurker" who is so happy for you! You are an amazing young woman; OCU can count their blessings, and I concur, please remember to blow all of us CC-ers kisses when you receive your first Tony!

Shauna, I've only been on CC for a few months now, but I can only imagine what you've been through and you've really proved to so many of us that not giving up and continueing to follow your dreams can pay off BIG time. Congrats!!

And I'll be seeing you at OCU next year!

Congratulations Shauna! I am so very happy for you. You deserve this!! I hope that you will love Oklahoma City. Thank you for sharing your fabulous news.

Shauna, I think you are our posterchild! I am so happy for you and your family. Talk about hard work and learning to deal with rejection. This must be so very sweet for you--and just think of all the lives you have touched--and how much we have learned from you. My heart is so very full. Hurray!!!!

Congrats Shauna,

I'm so happy for you. We're new to thread but recognize your name. My daughter is a junior in O.C., Ca. She had attended an arts school since 7th grade. She has started the college search and wanted to check out U Of M this summer. She worked vary hard on her audition tape but received letter of regrets. She was very disappointed and of coarse started worrying about next years college audition. I will tell her your story and happy ending. I know OCU is one of her top choices.

Best of luck to you!!!

Woo Hoo! Good things DO happen to good people. Shauna, you have no idea how admired you are by all of us Moms and Dads here. You are truly one of the most giving and mature kids I have ever had the pleasure to "know". Your story has touched us all and you are an inspiration to us. Way to go!

Shauna- a note form a sometimes poster- My s is just finishing his freshman year in a BFA program and I have learned one thing. There are lots of talented people out there but having the drive and the passion go along way. I know my s is in a group of very talented kids and he has had a few thing come his way due to his determination, his spirit, as one teacher told him will take him along way- Way to go girl- you have a double dose of spirit and I know it will take you all the way!

Hi UMmom,

Nice to see you back on CC! Your wonderful boy absolutely has determination and a spirit that shines as bright as the sun. But he is also an amazing talent - a voice that melts your heart, the sweetest Southern smile and of course, has he ever got "IT"!

We love him!

Sorry we didn't get to say goodbye after Showcase - it was so great to share some time with you and yours. We look forward to the next time!

Shauna,

You have done what others in your situation (last year) might say they would do, but often don't. You set your eyes on your goal, worked to get there and did!! Congratulations!!!

I found an old post from WCT to Shauna last year that I thought might help others this year. After Shauna had exhausted her top schools last March, WCT wrote:

"This is a tough business. Full of rejection. If you love performing then PERFORM. Keep training. Keep doing it. You have got to look past today and move on. Lots of people have been where you are. Some give up and some pick themselves up and keep going. You have the same choice. You have got to believe in yourself and your abilities. You can go to UNT without the financial burden and keep singing/acting and dancing. Keep going to auditions. Keep doing what you have been doing and then re-audition for the school(s) that you want to attend. Make a plan and stick to it but DON'T EVER GIVE UP!"

mtmommy and wct-
That is beautiful and timeless. Perhaps this can stand as cc mt's mission statement. Shauna, you have become a living legend!

mtmommy-

I can't believe you found that post!

But it is all true, for all of us, in regards to anything we want to do in life........DON'T EVER GIVE UP.
AND.........
Don't let anyone ever tell you that you can't do it, because YOU CAN as long as you have the WILL to do it!

Shauna,

Congratulations!!! I've never posted on CC before, but my mom has been a regular for two years (lexasmomkbj) and has been sharing your story with me continuously. Hearing about your hard work and perseverance, even after several rejections, helped me tremendously with my own rejections. As I'm sure you can tell from all the support from this thread, your "saga" (lol) is inspiring. I'm happy to say I will be attending OCU this fall as well as a freshman and look forward to meeting you.

~Alexa

Shauna, have followed your saga for the last couple of years. Congratulations! A great prgoram for a great young lady! They're lucky to have you! Hard work pays off big time!
