Shingles!

My rash and itching…are gone. When searching online, I found pictures that were identical. Apparently it’s a reaction that some have. And funny, when the pharmacist gave me this second shot, he actually asked me if I had any red circle reaction the first time. I’ll ask him about it when I see him next.

@jym626 You got a fever from the shot. That’s what happened to me. Didn’t last long. I got chilled like that, too.

But I don’t think I had a fever. Was just cold-- colder than normal (I am always cold) and it was cold in the house.

That can certainly be a sign of a fever- and it was for me with the shot. But if you didn’t take your temperature, you don’t know!

I suppose. But no part of me was warm- not even my forehead
Fortunately it only lasted about 15 minutes.

I had chills, was very tired, a bit nauseous and had a headache.

Had a tender bump at injection site but no rash.

So just a few minutes ago I felt warm/flushed and my eyes began to tear (sometimes happens if I have a fever). It’s just slightly elevated- 99.6

@thumper1 – glad all is well. I’ll be interested in your pharmacist’s thoughts/reports. You get the “very brave” award for looking online:) I received no paperwork regarding reactions, etc. and had my injection at doctor’s office. My 80 year old parents went to some pharmacy and left with a veritable tome of signed/informational paperwork. Whole thing odd.

@jym626 – I hope you’re well. I will share that my reaction fever etc., lasted only about 36 hours total.

Side bar – a few days before shingrix, we bought a new mattress. Laying there with all these aches, never correlating the two, I’m mind grumbling “we’re just going to have return this piece of crap – never been more uncomfortable in my life, literally making me ache.” Also thought I was getting to experience a new kind of hot flash:)

My husband and I finally has our first shots today. It was hard finding a weekend we didn’t have anything so that if either didn’t feel well, we didn’t have to miss work or play! I figure if I don’t feel well tomorrow, I will stay in my pj’s and watch movies all day

Injection site just a bit sore; not much more than a flu shot. It has only been 4 hours, but we are both fine at the moment. I took Tylenol as I am not suppose to take Aleve or Advil due to kidney disease, my husband took Aleve. He is the one most likely to get fever, so I forced him to take something in advance, and will have him do so tonight also.

That’s me right now. I took the second shot 24 hr ago. I feel hammered.

I had the first shot on New Year’s Eve morning (obviously we didn’t have raucous plans for the night). I felt fine until bedtime and I thought I’d beaten it. I awoke in the middle of the night with terrible chills and aches. I was pretty sick New Year’s Day and spent most of the day in my pj’s on the couch. I felt okay, but not great the next day. By the third day, I felt fine.

Ought oh, this thread made me remember I was going to get my 2nd shot this weekend. It’s our 25th anniversary (not that we are doing anything!), so I guess I’ll hold off and next weekend is S’s birthday party.

I didn’t have too bad of a time with shot #1, but I typically have awful reactions to vaccines. Grrr, hard to find a weekend for possible sickness now that tax season has started.

Somehow I never posted this! I had shot 1 a few months ago in my left arm. the next day my arm was sore - similar to TDAP and flu shot, and I felt tired and out-of sorts. I planned accordingly and spent two days lounging about in pjs. I’m due for my next shot any time now, but will wait until after the women’s march tomorrow!

I had my second shot Wednesday. Arm a little sore day after but pretty much fine now. All back to normal except for vague itchiness that experienced with first shot…and that lasted a few weeks (but no rash). Glad to have that checked off my to do list.

Had my second shot yesterday. Arm is a bit sore (didn’t sleep well as I kept rolling onto it!). I have a low grade fever today and feel kind of blah, but not actually sick. Purposely picked this weekend as I have off for MLK Day, so I can be lazy today and get to the Saturday house cleaning on Monday.

Had no reaction to the first shot; woke up the next day and forgot I’d gotten it. I did take Tylenol both times within an hour of getting the shot so maybe that helped keep the arm soreness to a minimum.

Had both shots done at Walgreen’s. They had it in stock both times I called, whereas my local CVS (which is where I go for annual flu shot) has been out of it every time I’ve called over the last eight months.

Arm is still a bit sore today, but no big deal. I do have a headache, but I get those anyway, so can’t blame the injection. Hubby feels fine, so maybe we will be some of the lucky few that don’t have a bad reaction. It has not been 24 hours yet, so still waiting to see!

I have been meaning to come back and post again. So my husband is finally well after his bout of shingles. He was sick for about a month before the rash (when we didn’t know what was wrong), had the rash for several weeks, and pain for a few months. His was obviously a bad case (he does have an autoimmune issue so that might be part of it).

Had my first shot yesterday. Boy, did it do a number on me. Was totally fine until 12 hours after the injection. Got really cold and started shivering uncontrollably. Layered up in clothes and got under all the covers to try to get warm. Woke up during the night feeling like I’d been hit by a Mack truck. Had to cancel today’s appointments and stayed in bed til mid afternoon. Finally feeling better tonight. I don’t usually have reactions to vaccines so sure didn’t expect this. I will definitely plan better for dose 2.

How much are you paying for the Shingrex shots? I am on Medicare and my Part D doesn’t cover these shots. It would be $170 per shot for me. I had a different shingles shot 10 years ago.

Mine was fully covered by my insurance (employer provided).
