Shipping boxes for freshman ahead of time

Hi, does anyone have experience with shipping boxes to the dorm that the student will need at move in? We are picking up most of her things at Bed, Bath and Beyond in Miami but I have a couple of boxes of stuff that she needs that we can't bring on the plane. The housing website says that they will not accept anything until 8/19, she is moving in on the morning of 8/20. I don't know if I can figure out how to get it there exactly on 8/19 and will need it early in the morning 8/20 for move in. Do you knwo what time UPS delivers to campus dorms? Has anyone shipped to their hotel or can you send it to a UPS loaction near school that will hold it? Thanks!

We are using [Summer Storage | College Student Storage and Shipping | Collegeboxes](http://www.collegeboxes.com) They know how to get it to the right place and at the right time. You have to buy a 5 box starter pack which may be too much for you but their system seems very well designed and they get good reviews elsewhere.
UPS will also hold and deliver at the right time but you need to visit a UPS Store to sort that out.

There is a UPS store across Highway 1 from the U. It is store 2232 and its address is 1172 S. Dixie Highway, Coral Gables 33146. The store will hold your boxes until you want to pick them up.

My son is a recent UM grad so I’m not sure how things have changed.

Per front desk at Hecht at sons move in time:
Not enough storage for all the boxes they get.
USPS- they can not turn away packages.
UPS- they can turn away packages (and they do) and do it over and over. If they don’t accept them on the third try (or so) they may get returned to sender.
(son ordered sneakers and a TV on line and turned away twice before he got the packages.)

The week prior to move-in, we shipped 4 large boxes UPS. Booked on line and had them picked up at my house. Delivered to the UPS store across from the U. I had called the UPS store in advance. There is a nominal fee per box but well worth it. Had to write on the box HOLD FOR PICKUP and DATE (which helped with where they stored them at the UPS store.) Call the UPS store for details. It was easy. Just make sure your car rental will fit the boxes. I think we rented an SUV or mini van and had to leave the back open.

First stop- UPS store and along with luggage, moved it into dorm room. Took note of all we needed. Then, off to Dadeland Mall, not far from the U. BB&B for pickup. You get your bags and can go through it all and just purchase what you want. (You do know to shop up here very soon and they will have it waiting at the store you choose in Miami. ) Also, bring coupons… the more the better. Take expired ones also. We then went to pick up a TV at Best Buy or similar at the Mall. None, so we ordered on Amazon.

Good luck. Don’t miss the Parent Orientation Brunch. Great time meeting other parents.

If you use [Welcome to Freight By Bus Shipping and Bus Freighter :: Greyhound bus shipping](http://www.freightbybus.com) it will ship to the closest bus terminal and they will hold it for 3 days for free. I did some research and that is who I am using to move my stuff in.

They also have coupons online if you do a search. I saved another 10%
