For Connecticut, what types of shoes do I need? Is it really necessary to get a pair of rain boots? And what brands of shoes would you recommend as being durable and reasonably priced? Here where I live, we do get all sorts of weather, but I'm never really outside for long...

Thanks!

I’m getting rain boots and snowboots. When we lived in PA snowboots were absolutely necessary and my tour guide said they are a staple. The L.L Bean snowboots seem to be durable, reliable, and worth the cost. For rain boots many people suggest Hunter’s because people say they last long, but take this however you’d like.

Thank you! :)

How much snow do you typically get? Also, is there much ice?

I’m still debating over whether to get a pair of rain boots or just use my snow boots for wet weather too.

If you aren’t sure you will wear rain boots, I would suggest waiting.

You can always buy them later if you feel you need them.

We got about 6-7 inches collectively over a period over 2-3 weeks at a time.

Sorry about the above. We got about 6-7 inches collectively over a period over 2-3 weeks at a time. I was getting both just to have variation. We had a little bit of ice, but not much.

Yes, I think I’ll wait on the rain boots. Here, we get plenty of snow but it melts really quickly. I hope the winter isn’t as long on the East Coast; its perfectly normal here to get snow in May! :)

Are sneakers okay for Choate? I’ll probably bring sneakers, snow boots, some dressy shoes… am I missing anything?

Good info—thx to all!!

Yes, thank you for answering my questions!
