Shooting at Univ. Alabama Huntsville (merged thread folds in Parents Cafe comments)

Yeah, the fact that the husband asked a friend to buy a gun for him in another state because that state had no waiting period has me creeped out. Is that even legal? Did the husband buy the gun from the friend who purchased it, or did the friend just give it to him? Most people would never do what that friend did. If someone asked me to do it, I’d say no and recommend that he contact the police if he were so afraid of his neighbor. The husband sounds clueless in so many ways.

If she goes this route as a defense, Amy can argue that the “evil killer” personality knowingly made the false statements getting in the patrol car, not “good” Amy. In other words, “good” Amy argues that “evil Amy” knew what she did and was trying to set up an insanity defense.

That would be consistent with “good Amy” having only “before” the process began and “after” the killings and capture memories, but no memory of the preparation, doing or capture!!!

This trial is going to be amazing! If the personality don’t fit, you have to acquit (or not guilty by reason of insanity).

I betcha there’s a plea deal and this will never come to trial.

Dontcha think *Court TV *would object to such a plea?

^^^ Well, there’s always the TV movie that will be made!

Do you think they can find an actress to agree to wear that hairstyle?

Seriously – I do not see this case ever coming to trial. I think she will get a smart lawyer (and I don’t mean anything swarmy by that – she’ll get a lawyer who can see the writing on the wall) and the lawyer will not want her to risk anything with a jury.

I think Amy Bishop (or one of her alters/identities) wil be played by Emo Philips. <a href=“Custom Domain by Bitly”>Custom Domain by Bitly;

The husband is a big, fat, liar. When he was first asked about the gun, he said that Amy recently borrowed the gun from a friend. He said that when he asked who “the friend” was, Amy was vague in her answer. He said that Amy knew that he wouldn’t want a gun in the house with the kids.

I’m hoping that he also told this big, fat lie to the police, so they can charge him with lying to the police. What a liar! Did he really think the gun wouldn’t be traced back to HIM!!!

^^^Yeah! I think the husband is as fake as his wife. Deny, then recant. Don’t you think he’s as involved somehow?

And as for getting a “good” lawyer, I think she’s using a public defender, isn’t she? Some kind of mentally ill diagnosis is her best option, as far as I can tell.

I think she looks like Prince Valiant.

If we go back I think we can find him denying knowledge of any gun

I do not believe the husband is clueless, at all. I suspect he knew full well what she planned.

He has lied repeatedly and I do hope he is charged. I think he is as crazy as his wife.

Her remarks about it not happening don’t surprise me. If I killed that many people I wouldn’t believe what I had done either. I don’t think those remarks rise to the level of proving insanity. I’m surprised to hear she has a public defender. If he or she can swing a plea I think they will take it to keep Amy from getting the death penalty. At this point that is probably the best they can hope for.

Earlier, he admitted knowing about the gun because he admitted going to Larry’s shooting range for practice. At that point, he said that Amy had told him that she borrowed the gun (from a friend) because she feared a crazy student on campus. That was such a bit fat lie. The only crazy one was HER!

“But in an interview with The Chronicle today, he acknowledged that she had borrowed a gun, though he wasn’t sure from whom. “She was very cagey and didn’t say,” he said”

Anderson said he knew his wife had a gun, but didn’t know when or how she got it.
“I really don’t know how she got it, or where she got it from,” he said.
Police have previously said Bishop had no permit for the gun they believe she used in the shooting, and investigators said they didn’t know where she got it. It’s not clear if that was the same gun that her husband knew about

"During the hearing, Huntsville police investigator Charlie Gray testified that the gun used in the shooting, found in a bathroom trash can on a floor below, was purchased in 1989 for her husband, James Anderson, through a man in New Hampshire identified as Donald Proulx.

Gray said Proulx told federal agents Anderson, who was living in Massachusetts, asked him to buy the gun because Anderson was having problems with a neighbor and New Hampshire didn’t have a waiting period for gun purchases"

If Mr. Anderson didn’t want a gun in the home with kids, why did he obtain one when he lived in MA and the kids were even younger then?

"Meanwhile, Anderson told The Associated Press that he and Bishop went to a shooting range just weeks before the killing, but said the family did not own a gun.

He said he is still baffled about where she may have gotten the gun she is accused of using"

My level of anxiety about this couple’s children continues to rise. I hope that there is someone sane around to help them through this!

If Mr. Anderson didn’t want a gun in the home with kids, why did he obtain one when he lived in MA and the kids were even younger then?

That’s the point…his “story” was filled with lies. He knew that they had a gun, he knew there was a gun in his home with his kids, he knew where Amy got the gun that was used at target practice, he knew that he made up the story that she “borrowed” the gun from a neighbor…etc, etc, etc…

*
He said he is still baffled about where she may have gotten the gun she is accused of using" *

He was claiming to be “baffled about where” she got the gun, because he had already lied and had said that she said that she borrowed it but had Amy had refused to tell him from whom. So, he claimed to be “baffled” about where (from whom) she got the gun. But, again, it was all a lie. He knew the gun was his.

Simple, it is just a huge coincidence that Amy used the very same gun that James ***didn’t ***buy from the guy in N.H. And, ya’ll doubted James! Shame on you.
