Pitt has posted their short answer questions for Fall 2019 for those looking to get a head start.
https://oafa.pitt.edu/apply/admissions-process/freshmen/
The website states: “The following questions are optional, but strongly encouraged. Your answers may increase the likelihood that you are considered for scholarships, guaranteed admission to graduate or professional school, or given special consideration due to extenuating circumstances. You may choose to answer any or all of the following questions:”
I assume this means you should answer all 3 questions even though it says optional.
@dcnatfan , Definitely.
Yes
Does anyone know if a kid who has no chance at scholarships or honors college and isn’t applying to a guaranteed entry program should fill them out? When my older daughter applied I thought it said that they were only used for scholarship consideration but they seem to have changed the wording. It seemed that my S definitely doesn’t need the first two since those are honors college specific, but it’s not clear if he should do the other three.
@me29034 , I would encourage my son to answer at least the last 3. Just for admissions. Pitt is on the Common App this year for the first time, and if they are trying to raise their numbers and stats with a focused interest, it would only help. I would hate to not have my kid do them and jeopardize his admission.
Things got crazy with this last admissions cycle, in general, at schools. If I had a kid applying this year, I would be extra thorough.
