Should both letters of recommendation be from science teachers?

Hey all,

I’m applying to college as a science major, so I realize it’s important to get a letter of rec from a science teacher. However, is it advisable to get both of my recommendations from science teachers? My big dilemma is that I might be submitting three letters of recommendation from academic teachers, and I know colleges (at least, the ones I’m applying to) only want two from a teacher. The other should be from someone outside school, which I don’t think I need. So, it boils down to whether I should get a rec from an English teacher, and withdraw my request from my other science teacher, or if I should withdraw the request from the English teacher. What do you think?

I would go for the English teacher. It is good to show academic strength in different areas.

Read the requirements carefully in the website of each college you are applying to. Some may specify. If they don’t, I’d go with one science and the English teacher.
