Teachers for Letter of Recommendation

hi, i’m a senior and i already asked two teachers to write my letter of rec. i have one english teacher and science teacher writing for me. i knew both of them since soph year and i’m pretty sure that they like me (i have the eng teacher as my senior english teacher and had science teacher as my club adviser last year, so i kept in touch with both of them) and i visit their classes a lot just to hang out and talk.

i heard from graduated friends that the english teacher writes great letter of rec (she writes a lengthy & detailed letter according to the her) but idk about my science teacher… she said the letters are supposed to be short and concise, so i’m really confused lol

i want to major in the science area so i’m having my science teacher write for 5 colleges that i’m definitely applying (early action) with a science major. do you think it’ll be okay if i have my english teacher write for them instead? i really love those colleges so i want a higher chance of getting in…):
i feel terrible for doing this… please help? thanks in advance (:

*i’m applying to others as undecided (like UCs and other private schools) cuz i also want to look at other opportunities available to me (:

In almost all cases, the recommendations will provide more insight to you as a person, but unless your application is really borderline, will not greatly effect the admissions decision one way or the other. Choose the teachers who can do the best job of “selling” you to the colleges.

Ask your guidance counselor. He or she will know which teachers write the best rec letters and if any of your choices should be avoided.

@skieurope @T26E4 thank you so much! i think i’m just gonna have my english teacher write for 3 of the 5 but also ask the guidance counselor for advice just to be sure ;
