I currently have a 29 ACT. I am planning to attempt to transfer into USC as a sophomore, and was wondering if I could retake the ACT or try out the SAT while at college.
ACT is only offered for high school students. Once your in college and are wanting to transfer, they look at your college transcripts.
I believe that is true if you intend to transfer in as a junior, but as a sophomore transfer they do take into account your act scores
If you complete 30 credits by the end of your freshman year (which you will easily), they do not take into consideration your high school grades/test scores
In short, it isn’t worth your time to retake them, they will not look at them. Plus, SAT/ACT SUCK!!
Hope this helps
Hello OneDay,
Thank you for the information. Does this mean that as a sophomore transfer they will not take into account my HS grades? Or will they not take it into account if I receive a spring grade request? And I agree, the ACT does indeed suck.
@cbm345 They will ask for your high school transcript and test scores, but if you have over 30 college credits, they will not focus on it, but rather your college grades. Here’s specifically what the USC transfer FAQ states:
“There is no minimum number of transfer units you must complete before applying for admission. However, if you have completed fewer than 30 units, we will focus primarily on your high school record and scores from the SAT or ACT.”
Hope this helps, I was only recently admitted as a sophomore transfer, and I had the same concern because my SAT scores weren’t too great. Feel free to ask/pm me more question!!
As said, ACT is only for HS (or earlier) students, wouldn’t be fair for people to take it after a year of college.
