Should I address GPA/SAT difference in college essays?

I know that there are a bunch of posts like this one already, but I haven't seen one in which the OP has a SAT/GPA difference as large as I do.

I'm a junior, and from freshman year to first semester of my junior my GPA is a 3.3. But my combined SAT is 2370 and SAT II subject test Chemistry 800 (hopefully I do as well on math II!)

One thing that I have going for me is that my junior year is looking better than the last two years with my mid-year average coming out to a 3.6.

So should I try to explain this difference in my college essays or not? I want to explain that my work ethic wasn't great as I started high school and how I don't think it reflects my intelligence all that well, but I certainly don't want to come across as a lazy jerk who makes excuses. Especially considering that my junior year GPA still isn't exceptional.

What do y'all think?

No, most students have that problem. Don’t explain, just make sure you ace Junior year and Senior Year.
