Should I apply anywhere else?

I recently got admitted to princeton. I got a full ride cuz I am not the richest thing in Nj.

I had my counselor send out my transcripts recs etc to harvard and yale. My harvard app is done and yale is 75% done. I still have to send them. I will get both of the application fees waived and I have 3 free score reports left for the collegeboard. But the real questions is should I apply?

My friend told me that if i do get in to h or y and then not attend it will be harder to get into grad school there. Is this true? This is probably the only thing holding me back from applying.

When you apply for graduate school, you’ll be applying to a specific department or school. It’s totally different.

Apply anyway! You never know what’ll happen. When/if you get accepted to Yale and Harvard in addition to Princeton, you might wind up visiting them and realizing you like one more than the other.

Do it!! It’s all free, so why not?

Agree that your friend is totally wrong, grad/professional schools are separate from UG.

Yea, just apply for funsies. It’s better to keep your options open in case something comes up or you learn something game-changing about one of the colleges.

Why not? It’s free, your information is already sent, and there’s barely any extra work to do.

Congrats on Princeton, btw!

I did admissions work for a graduate program at Harvard and I can guarantee that neither I nor anyone else in the department knew whether an applicant had applied to the university as an undergraduate, nor do I think anyone would have cared.

While you’re applying to college, a lot of well-meaning people will tell you a lot of stuff that’s pure nonsense. As the others have told you, this is one of those times.

As for your real question, whether you should apply anywhere else, I suppose the answer depends on the answer to another question: is there anywhere you’d rather go than Princeton?

If I were in your situation, rather than applying to Yale and Harvard for funsies, I’d be more inclined to retire while I was still undefeated, so to speak. But YMMV. And, really, since the worst possible outcome is that you go to Princeton with a generous aid package, nothing important hinges on this decision.

Congratulations on your acceptance.
