Should I apply? Chance me please

Hello All

I am a transfer student hoping to attend FSU in Spring or Summer of 2012. I'm really not sure how it all works on when to apply so I'm hoping you guys can let me know when the best time to apply is for my circumstance, as well as if I should finish and get my AA, or just transfer now and begin taking courses towards by Bachelors.

Here is the program I'm interested in getting into at Florida State - Computer Criminology (Computer Science)
The Florida State University

I am taking 3 classes currently, and will have 56 credits at the end of this semester, with a 3.46 GPA and no AA to show for it because 60 credits is the minimum to receive an AA degree from my college (Broward CC). Should I take more classes in Spring and finish out my AA? Or should I apply now without my AA and see if they accept me?

Also my GPA is a 3.46, I've taken all my English's and Maths and such. I've actually taken more then what they expect from me for the prereqs for this program, I've taken Trig and Discrete Math already. However, I only took one programming class and I do not think that will fulfill the prereq for COP XXXX (3) Computer Programming but the adviser from FSU told me its fine if I do not have that and I could just take that course at FSU.

Should I apply to this program? What are my chances.

This is my first post guys, anything I'm missing I will provide and I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

-Tim

PS - I did poorly on the SAT and ACTS I took in 10th grade (5-6 years ago) Will they expect these from my if I'm applying with 56 credits? Thanks

Hello Tim from BCC and welcome to this lovely board which as
you can see is filled with love------
You will have the best chance of transferring to FSU WITH your 60 credits and
your AA degree thus you should apply for the summer term as a transfer and with your AA degree, you will not need to submit your ACT. Your chances, in my opinion are 50/50 or zero % if your don’t apply ! Additionally, I would seek advise from the FSU web site or call an admissions officer for specific information regarding your situation.
Good Luck -----
Oh, by the way, do the right thing and ALSO APPLY TO UF !!!

UF doesn’t offer the Computer Criminology major.

See: [Computer Criminology Major : Florida State University College of Criminology & Criminal Justice](http://criminology.fsu.edu/p/academic-computer-criminology.php)

As parent has said above, they do not offer that major at UF. So should I apply now for Summer? And say, ok I have 56 credits after this semester, I will be taking X and Y in Spring to finish my AA and I will attend your university in the Summer, and they will either choose to accept me or not accept me for Summer of 2012 now?

Without your AA (or at least, without at least 60 credits) you have to not only meet the FSU Transfer requirements, but also the [freshman requirements](<a href=“FSU Admissions | Error 404 page not found”>FSU Admissions | Error 404 page not found).

That is to say, it would be a lot easier to transfer with your AA, since you don’t have to meet the freshman admission requirements as well. However, if you meet said requirements, there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t at least apply.

You said you did horribly on the SAT and ACT when you took them in High School. Did they meet the minimum requirements?
In addition to the applicant’s overall composite on the ACT or total score on the SAT, the following minimum subscores are required:
Writing - 21 on the ACT English or 21 on the ACT E/W or 500 on the SAT writing
Math - 21 on the ACT math or 500 on the SAT math
Reading - 22 on the ACT reading or 500 on the SAT critical reading

Early last week I applied for Summer 2012, do you guys think I will be accepted? If so, when will I hear a yes or a no?
